WTKA Roundtable 11/30/2021: The Difference Between Trying and Letting
Things discussed:
- How are we feeling?
- Ohio State got punched in the mouth and fell apart.
- Buckeye defense not prepared for what Michigan runs.
- Buckeye offense was not ready for Aidan Hutchinson to turn CJ Stroud into an NFL rookie. All they got was Ninja on Ojabo and their WRs making ridiculous catches in coverage.
- The DTs for Michigan stood up. The DTs for Ohio State did not.
- Sam wants to doom Hutchinson to the Lions. Seth: He goes to the Lions he will be Suh, he will be Megatron, he will be Barry—he will be a great player wasted.
- Heisman: They don’t give it to the Most Outstanding Player. Maybe if Hutchinson HAD A TOUCHDOWN in his stats, Big Ten. Or that TD that went over his hand that he was close to intercepting and running back.
- Gattis: take a bow! Should be a head coaching candidate after that.
- Iowa talk: They can’t pass pro. Great RB and great C. But they’ve been extremely lucky, living off of turnovers and opponent QBs getting hurt.
- Hassan Haskins appreciation. Pulled me out of the BPONE and all the way to where we are now.

Ryan Day’s like we let them score because we need the ball back. How was that any different than your other plays?

That last comment is hilarious.
Uh, Mr. Day, our RB just ran 59 yds in 4 plays on your defense. As if they could have stopped him even if they had wanted to!

Just call Michigan National Championship favorites already Seth.

So far as I know, future plans are for Thursdays.

Is roundtable always on Tuesdays for now on? I liked them on Thursdays because to me it is an intro into the weekend.

Last week was Tuesday due to Thanksgiving, and they mentioned on the show there were some scheduling conflicts for this Thursday, hence today's MGoBlog Roundtable.

Last week, they broadcast on Tuesday due to Thanksgiving. I’m assuming that this week’s early broadcast is because Sam and Ira are going to drive down to Indianapolis Thursday and provide pre-game coverage.
it always brings a smile to my face to experience the crew’s camaraderie with Sam and Ira.
EDIT: what Mgoblu-querque said!

The crazy thing about Coombs: was watching a BuckeyeScoop thing with Gerdeman, and he said he thought Coombs was actually the safest member of the defensive staff, because of the recruiting and for the success of his position group, the relative lack of coaching there aside. Though he also noted that there is also a possibility that he might move on based on what happened this season.

Great shit guys!

Seth has lost his mind a bit.

Am I wrong or was the first podcast to have the “who’s got it better than us?!” clip at the end in a long, long time?

I've been waiting for the "we let them score" line of sour grapes "logic". OSU was in such a bad spot that their best strategy was to step aside ON ONE PLAY and let Michigan into the endzone. Michigan's offensive success in that drive, and throughout the game, forced OSU into that position.

I don't think enough credit's going to Nua and Clickscale. We were terrified of our own D-line and secondary to start the season, and they held up against OSU's athletes.
Macdonald had a great game plan, but the plan had no chance if the players hadn't become completely different from their former selves.

Anyone else listening to these at half speed to savor every word?

I’ll die on the hill that losing to Iowa in 2016 meant nothing to us. If you change that to a win but keep everything the same, Osu goes to the big ten title game via three way tie and likely destroys Wisconsin. We were not getting in to the big ten title game or cfp unless we beat Osu straight up. Furthermore, we would’ve been wrecked in the playoffs. This was Clemson and Bama at their peaks and our offense would never have been able to keep pace with them
