Thursday Recruitin' Gets Cryptic
It's time for another Thursday Recruitin' post, and this week includes more rankings, a lot of visit news, and a very interesting tidbit off the 24/7 message boards. Please let me know if you have any comments, criticism, suggestions, etc. — as always, I'll be reading the comments, and you can also reach me on Twitter or via email, where I'll also encourage you to send any recruiting articles of interest that you think I should include for the next week's edition.
Justin Hopkins Goes to the TomVH School of Cryptic Messages
247Sports recruiting analyst Justin Hopkins posted this on Tuesday in the Michigan-Notre Dame thread on The Blue Board, 24/7's U-M message board:

I am not qualified, but I don't think Long is out of bounds on Wormley - virtually every single outlet has some version of what Long wrote.

Yeah, Wormley seems a little too level-headed for his own good. He doesn't seem to get excited about making good plays, and he doesn't make enough of them.

Hey ace. I know there was a thread earlier this week about who may or may not be visiting but by chance can you set up a diary that had a list of player who are attending. It's just an idea. I hate to compare to Tom but it was really helpful during the BBQ. Thanks and great work man

Philbert, I would like to do this, and certainly will as my dossier of recruiting contacts fills up, but to be honest right now that list would either mostly just be ripped straight from premium sites or just be incomplete. I can work on tracking down free articles (or at least premium ones that have info in the header) and start a thread, but I just don't want to do a whole diary of stealing others' info.
Trust me, I'm working on building my contacts as much as I can, and hopefully I won't have to lean on the premium sites so much in the near future. Bear with me as I work on this.

Of the uncommitted guys, I feel comfortable enough passing along this information on 2012 prospects, which has appeared in several places: Jordan Payton and Zach Banner are the only official visits, and Darius Powe had to cancel/reschedule.
While that may seem like a disappointingly low level of officials, keep in mind that with the night game, recruits will have very little face time with the coaches after the game and won't have the chance to spend much time with the players. Most of the recruits on campus this weekend -- even the 2012 guys -- will be on unofficial visits because of this.

That looks right to me. Big day for the 2013 group.

Brogan Roback is a must-get. Then, in the future, we can Roback-it instead of Raback(ing)-it.

No big deal. Your doing a great job. Keep it up

Confirmed for Saturday? I keep hearing that he is going to PSU-Alabama instead.
As for Wormley...look, there are a lot of players like that in high school. He is so superior athletically, he can afford to take plays off. Players making the college jump either get it, or don't. I am not worried about him, with the right coaching.

Damn, I need to change that. Was looking at an older Scout thread that had Dunn confirmed, but I think he's still up in the air. Should find out soon, obviously.

That TomVH video with Shane Morris is worth a look. Kid looks awesome.

"A word of fair warning: There's a '13 linebacker recruit from Cleveland Glenville named Christopher Worley. Michigan is interested. No, this won't be confusing whatsoever."
Too late, I already had to read that paragraph three times, before I noticed the "M" missing. Hope that is not an ominous sign in his recruitment.

I've watched too much UM football. I briefly noticed I had 313 points, which immediately reminded me of Tim Biakabutuka's yardage against OSU in '95. Many other numbers do the same thing, especially jersey numbers. Anybody else messed up like this?
September 8th, 2011 at 11:08 AM ^
That is a glowing endorsement of Kalis.
Come on Mr. Dunn, you want to run behind this line in the winged helmet.

Allan Trieu is saying Gedeon is coming to Ann Arbor this weekend, not Happy Valley. FWIW.
September 8th, 2011 at 1:38 PM ^
Oregon St offer may have been pulled due to him not wanting to commit early-ish, per a premium site... am I allowed to post that? Thanks.

Did we end up having any recruits come to the Western game?
I thought one of the WR's that we were interested in was planning on coming. Anyone know if that happened?

I see no reason for confusion.

I'm not super worried about Garnett because I know he and Banner are friends, so hopefully if Banner is blown away he will be able to talk is up to Garnett. I expect us to get a post-season official regardless, but the positive review should help.

I'm hopeful that Dymonte will be able to talk Bri'onte into coming to UM for the ND game. That's been a big visit in my mind for awhile now. Did he ever take that PSU visit he was planning to take? If he did, and he's going back this weekend, that's a little worrisome.
