1. Maryland
(starts at 1:00)
Brian tries to make a long point about Wilco, or Zavier Simpson’s best games—it’s hard to tell. We rate hook shots. Life without Matthews. Completely necessary rant about when Michigan went –8 by taking X off the court for his third foul (which was a dumb foul). Try not to talk too much Castleton because Nebraska segment is next but Castleton man. DDJ though. David brings up J.T. Barrett. Also Iggy got Michigan halfway to the bonus in like three minutes. Fernando and Teske probably never want to play each other again. Red Panda.
2. Nebraska
(starts at 33:33)
My girl’s the baddest though so I keep winning. Nebraska showed up and gave up, which played right in Dan Dakich’s take wheelhouse. When a defensive team hits 50 percent from three it’s over. Can’t switch with Tanner Borschardt. Poole had five assists and we were all okay with his turnover. Jon Teske > Mo last year. Get more creation out of him?
3. Around the Big Ten
(starts at 54:14)
Northwestern is an excellent worst conference team but probably not good enough to knock off Purdue, meaning Michigan needs Minnesota to do it for them. Rutgers has is an insane basket away from being a team with a tournament resume (that still couldn’t get in). Penn State was the best team in the league in February. If only they’d won that Purdue game. NET is too Kenpommy. Don’t want to face Iowa and Wisconsin the Big Ten Tournament.
4. Across the Crooked Blue Line with Steve Lorenz of 247Sports
(starts at 1:15:53)
Steve guarantees that every Michigan target is indeed a real human being. Discuss the recent re-ratings of all the 2020 prospects, in which Michigan’s commits fell a little ways. Still high on Seldon and KD; some of the linebackers haven’t progressed and the new lineman probably won’t until senior tape rolls in. Is there a chance with the in-state five-stars? Will State get shut out of the top ten players in Michigan?

It doesn’t matter; you’re in last place in Red Panda PAC’s Wilco Pantheon
I just wanted to mention that I am ALL IN for using They Might Be Giants "Why Does the Sun Shine? (The Sun is a Mass of Incandescent Gas)" from the Here Comes Science album, even if they had to make a follow-up song explaining that it's really plasma. But as a song, it rocks.
I was delighted to hear it here! And even if it did show the perils of putting 1959 songs on your fact-checked science for kids album, "Why Does the Sun Really Shine?" is also a great song. Not least because it points out that science isn't just having all the answers -- replacing the answer when you've found a better one is a fundamental part of it!
I disagree re: not playing Iowa and Wisconsin again.
Iowa is in its patented late season swoon that would be even worse if not for Northwestern's epic collapse and a physics-defying corner bank-swish after a full court tipped pass. Plus revenge for that horribly officiated game at Carver-Hawkeye and the fact that Iowa is pretty meh away from home.
Wisconsin isn't that good, especially away from the Troll Center, and I'd be fine with beating them again. I can see not wanting to face them again, though, because they play ugly basketball and their team is generally unlikable.
Agree. Those are two puzzles that Michigan can unlock. I don't see anyone to fear the way we are playing at the moment.
I agree with you in regards to Iowa. Im not afriad of Michigan playing them again either. But i disagree on Wisconsin. Its just not a great matchup. For some reason, Teske has more trouble with Happ than with other Center studs. Happ is the most skilled center in the Big Ten, and its not even close IMO. Not the most athletic center, but very skilled.
Id rather play Purdue than Wisconsin.
But - who are you afriad of? What is afriad, anyway?
Just askin' for a friend.
The big, bad wolf!!!
Disagree. I want Wisconsin. And I look forward to Happ sitting on the bench down the stretch because the noodle can't make a dang free throw.
I don't know about anyone else but I could listen to Nick Hopwood say coach all day. Makes me chuckle every damn time.
Winning is good - I suggest we continue to do that.
I enjoy Dave. But. You can always tell when he's going to start talking because it's when Brian is in the middle of a sentence/point.
Thank you for bringing that to my attention. I will try to remember that and be more patient, letting others finish their points.
To be fair, sometimes he needs to be interrupted. I'm team Dave when it comes to scrambled eggs.
I feel like if Teske could develop a little pump fake dribble drive from beyond the arc, he could be deadly. Fernando was just contesting without thinking and if Teske had that in his game, bigs gaurding him would have to think twice about it and Teske would get a lot more open looks.
Agree. Similarly, it feels like Simpson has the entire world set up for a counter to the sky hook. Not sure what that would be, but defenders have started flying over to that right block when he starts his drive because they can feel it coming.
Great idea. That is definitely something Moe had in his tool belt. But Moe was a better ball handler, even had the behind the back and spin moves.
I'm down for the Zavier Simpson 3pt hook shot, à la Meadowlark Lemon.
Scott Bell was knocked off twitter for maintaining 2 accounts, one of which must have been flagged/reported for "trolling" enough. Twitter is supposedly "cracking down" on fake or troll accounts and the most common method for identifying these is by cross referencing IP or registered user data like device id's or e-mail accounts. He has a well established and verified account and then he has his UM fan/opponent trashing account. The UM fan/opponent trashing account must have exceeded the # of reports for trolling. He is hilarious and Twitter is a hot mess.
