Cole Cabana Has Committed to Michigan Comment Count

The Wolverines didn’t have to go far to get the commitment train rolling again. 2023 RB Cole Cabana of Dexter, a 3-star ranked in the 360s in the composite, committed to the Wolverines this afternoon.

Cabana is a burner, claiming a FAKE 4.34 forty, which is the kind of hyperbolic lie whose veneer of truth suggests electrifying speed. His tape is another kind of like: it looks sped up when you watch him, but not when you watch the other 21 players on the field. He has an upright running style, and a listed 6’0”/180 profile that, weirdly, appears to be accurate. Allen Trieu reports a 6.85 in the 60-meter dash and a 10.69 100-meter time to add some veracity to the speed takes. Cabana also ran for 1,688 yards and 24 TDs, and caught 32 passes for 368 yards and 4 TDs in a breakout junior season down the road.

Despite growing up near Wolverine land, Cabana said he was a Michigan State fan from an MSU family. He was at their junior day last week, but also noted that was his first time meeting the Spartans’ RB coach in person. Mike Hart, by contrast, has been in constant contact, and seems to have laid the groundwork for a commitment shortly after Michigan decided the junior tape and track numbers were too good not to lock down. It’s probably not going to help his popularity up in East Lansing.

Alex or I will have a full Hello post this week.

I mean it's not really Cabana "claiming" it. That time was a hand timed 40 from a camp

Also, who is the MSU dude who looks like a pervy high school chemistry teacher in the picture?

William Peagler.  He was MSU's RB coach last year (one that identified Walker) and was the one that offered Cabana.  He left for Florida this offseason as a TE coach.

Effrem Reed is MSU's new RB coach and landed Kendrick Reescano a few weeks ago.
