Bahr is from Loyola Academy in Wilmette, IL. He is ranked 504th in the 24/7 composite and had offers from a mix of MAC, B1G, and Big 12 schools. Michigan offered him on February 1st, after Mike Elston was hired.
Bahr is the only DL commitment in the 2023 class, following the decommitment of Joel Starlings. A proper Hello will be coming in the subsequent days. There is no content after the jump.
I'll take the honor of being the first to post... This is a big boy. Love it. Welcome Brooks!!!!
Go Ramblers...and welcome to Michigan.
I like the potential this young man carries. I'll gladly have a 6'6" 320 pound DT who can move.

I am not going to lie, I saw the pic and thought we picked up the RB/WR since he was more in the middle of the frame and thought “oh crap” since he was so small. I prefer the measurements you provided!

So would I, but Bahr is listed as 6'-6" 270.

Yeah, its too bad that 17-18 year-olds are banned from gaining any weight before they get to college or once they get into a college weightroom.

Bahr can put on 50 lbs but it's far from a given that he'll retain whatever quickness and agility he has.

I realize it’s not all Harbaugh but he still has oversight. DT/NT recruiting under Harbaugh has left a lot to be desired. Seems like we should be getting more per year.
with the loss of Hinton this year. Shows just how thin we are on the interior. The main difference with this line vs some prior years is they could actually stop the run at a decent level. I don’t care how pass heavy football is. It still starts with stopping the run. In my opinion we need to get batter at recruiting interior DL.
Don Brown was given way too much leeway but most coordinators are allowed the specifics of position numbers. That and Brown wasn't a great recruiter but did have an eye for talent. That said, the numbers and undersized tweeners were just inexcusable as it was obvious how his defense got ran over by strong run games and in turn eliminated the advantage they had on pass rush. He never figured it out.
Mike MacDonald immediately made DT/NT a priority and numbers were looking far better but the departure of Hinton was quite unexpected.
That said, it's clear that Minter also has DT/NT as a priority and Elston is a strong recruiter with lots of developed relationships. Next year again, we will lose Mazi Smith for sure and in the mean time will have to continue addressing the position through recruiting and possibly the Portal.

Re: your last paragraph
I think it is more of Elston having DT/NT as a priority than it is Minter at this point considering Elston is the Recruiting Coordinator and has been at UM and recruiting longer than Minter

Strange comment after taking four DT/NG in the past two cycles, including Benny Grant and Graham.
Thank God… at first I thought the commit was the kid in the photo with the ball. That was scary.
Alright, Brooks. Welcome aboard. Stick it out and the worst thing that can happen is you'll have a degree that is better than most or all of your friends and classmates.

Not sure if that's true of Loyola in Wilmette but he should stick it out regardless

This kid gonna end up in that 320 range, will be able to hunker down and clog up the B gap as a 4i.
Run stopper

I'm prone to trusting the coaching staff and especially Elston in this case, but at 6'6 hopefully they can get him to hunker down, I'm leery of that sort of height in the middle of the line. Also the kid looks pretty filled out already I don't necessarily see where he's going to add 50 lbs. 3 bills seems about right.

I tend to think self-reported sizes are a bit overrated, so my guess is he's probably a bit shorter and probably a bit lighter. And Jordan Davis from UGa was 6' 6" and it does seem like inside guys, if they have solid bend, can be a bit taller without being too detrimental.
I'm curious where people were suddenly concluding that 320 was his ultimate weight target. There's nothing in his commitment statement about that, and there's nobody on the current roster who's 6'-6" and anything close to 320.
