Facebook gone wrong
January 25th, 2011 at 5:09 PM ^
Was just going to post this. For the facebook stalkers among us, this is why what you do is bad...

Maybe he shouldn't have posted all of those pictures of himself OMG SHIRTLESS.

Time I normally would have spent on facebook has now been overtaken by MGoBlog. Take that zuckerberg.

I still have my account, but have logged in three times in the last 2.5 years since finishing school. It just doesn't appeal to me that much. I send text messages to all the people I still want to keep in contact with......

rotary phone.
If you know what I mean.
January 25th, 2011 at 5:12 PM ^
don't know why folks feel the need to follow players on facebook or twitter. It's the recruit's decision to make, not the fans.
January 25th, 2011 at 5:14 PM ^
I hope that Jeff Tinkler reads this post.

As well as adamum5.
January 25th, 2011 at 5:28 PM ^
lol i read that dudes twitter after you all posted on that last night.. wow, some people really don't have anything better to do than pester 17 year old kids about where they need to go to school.
January 25th, 2011 at 5:14 PM ^
Well, as much as the fans shouldn't be doing that, he shouldn't be friending people he doesn't know. If he used the site how it was intended, his recruitment would not have been a living nightmare.

... This is the exact same reason joe mcknight switched to USC over LSU. I also remember being facebook friends with marcus lattimore, everytime he posted something he would get 100 comments from people telling him what school he should go to.
January 25th, 2011 at 5:19 PM ^
Are you sure that's why he switched to USC?
January 25th, 2011 at 5:28 PM ^
They did a story about this same subject about a year ago. It also mentioned two other high school football players who accepted all their fans friend requests, one was marcus lattimore and the other was devin gardner. Both facebooks have been removed
January 25th, 2011 at 5:34 PM ^
Are you sure it didn't have anything to do with money...or a car...or a house for his mother to live in???
January 25th, 2011 at 5:29 PM ^
have not reactivated yet. It really a great not knowing what is going on with everyone at every given moment.
This leads to a broader discussion on how technology impacts our communciation habits. I kinda want to make more of an effort to interact with people on more of a personal level...
Anyway, there is a realitively new book out by MIT prof Sherry Turkle called Alone Together that I just started reading, it's pretty good for those who may want to read a little more on the issue.

Most FB users will be over 40. If it's not that way already.
January 26th, 2011 at 1:02 AM ^
The younger crowd will move onto the next big thing.
January 26th, 2011 at 1:57 AM ^
Everyone should be reminded that contacting recruits in any way is illegal (violates NCAA recruiting rules). I can't find the exact page I was looking for, but this MGoBlue.com page kinda explains what the rules are:
http://www.mgoblue.com/compliance/mich-compliance-whoisabooster.html
Not that anyone on MGoBlog would be pathetic enough as to write on a recruit's wall about telling them where to go to college...
January 26th, 2011 at 3:02 AM ^
I wouldn't be surprised if, over the next two years, recruits completely steer clear of these social networking sites.
Not so much because of actual stalkers, but because I suspect a lot of overzealous fans will pretend to be stalkers from rival schools and send lots of obnoxious messages trying to drive prospects away from the competition. Either way, it is likely to get too ugly to put up with.
January 26th, 2011 at 3:37 AM ^
I've become more addicted to mgoblog than facebook now. Trust me, life is MUCH better.

continues to slide downhill. The recent events with Cutler haven't done much to help, either. I think some of the blackberry warriors would be happy with a return to lions and gladiators, as long as they felt entertained.

blocked her from posting or contacting him via facebook?
