Doom is Nothing.
Yes, the new MGoBanner is accurate. Yes, mushroom clouds made more appearances this season than any other. Yes, all our base are belong to David Brandon's pimp hand now... but let us not forget how this season started. After more coaching turmoil and doom kittehs, think back to September 4th, 2010. Michigan WILL win the MNC again. Michigan WILL end The Streak. Michigan will put little brother back in his place. Impossible? Impossible is Nothing.

I think the myth of the Pimp Hand can be retired.

We have a new definition of "clusterfuck."

Gary Patterson is about to move to Ann Arbor. I can feel it. Bring on the 4-2-5.
January 6th, 2011 at 4:02 PM ^
I'm all in favor of the 4-2-5. The current players would fit nicely in that system.
Plus Patterson could probably keep DR here and effective. I do not believe the Harbaugh or Doom panic that seems to have set in with many members here.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:48 PM ^
a coach implement a 4-2-5 if the "5" part was the strength of the team. Not sure that is the case for us. Although, I don't really see what the strength is on our D right nw.
Interesting thought. I guess we do have experience in the secondary now with the loss of so many starters last year...
How would that look?

Who ever is in charge with designing next years defense should watch Nebraska film from last year and Auburn film from this year. One of the few things we have is Mike Martin, and our defense should be designed to make him a factor that fans notice, not just a force on the defensive line. We should be hearing his name a lot.
January 6th, 2011 at 8:27 PM ^
2 of the five are tweeners like we had in the 3-3-5. The Gordons as well as Furman and Carvin would fit very nicely with a 4-2-5. Then it's just 2 CB's (Floyd/Avery and Woolfolk) and a FS (MRob, Vinopal, ?). Also with the 4-2-5, we don't have to worry about two people stepping up at LB after losing Mouton and Ezeh. Roh, Martin, (Banks?), and RVB can anchor the D-line. If there is ever a defense that is perfect for our personnel, it's this one.

Excellent explanation, chunkums. You summed up my thoughts very well. Glad to see I'm not the only one who's thinking this way.
January 6th, 2011 at 6:28 PM ^
We don't have great DBs, but our LBs are ideal for "2" because it would mean we only need to find one more capable starter as long as Demens is healthy. The strength on D is the line. Martin is good, Van Bergen is either a good strongside DE or an ok 3-tech, and Roh's only appropriate position is weakside DE. If Washington or someone else is unable to establish himself at DT, then Black at strongside DE and RVB at 3-tech should not be too bad.
We might actually be better off with 5 DBs than 4, because Kovacs is one of our better defenders but can't cover a deep half. The only position that really fits him is box safety in an x-x-5.

I've heard some vaguely positive buzz about Richard Ash's development during this redshirt season. Also, on the D-line, Jibreel Black will be something special (you don't get offers from almost 70% of the Big 10, South Carolina, and Cincinnati under, I believe Brian Kelly without being good...how was he only a 3 star given the offers and his HS awards?).

...an atheist...but I am praying to God, Allah, Shiva, etc right now that Patterson comes to Ann Arbor. That would be much better than Harbaugh.
January 6th, 2011 at 4:06 PM ^
Harbaugh or DOOM.
January 7th, 2011 at 11:35 AM ^
Part of me thinks the entire world will implode if Brandon doesn't get Harbaugh
January 6th, 2011 at 4:24 PM ^
Nah. There are people who can do just as good a job as Harbaugh, if not better. Harbaugh has had sustained success for 2 years. Patterson has been going at least twice that long if not longer.
January 6th, 2011 at 8:28 PM ^
Patterson runs an offense similar to ours and has a tremendous defense that would fit nicely with our personnel.
January 6th, 2011 at 6:39 PM ^
My vote.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:41 PM ^
Or Doom... Whatever...
January 6th, 2011 at 8:04 PM ^
Anything but the 3-3-5
January 7th, 2011 at 11:36 AM ^
I think I read that somewhere.
January 6th, 2011 at 9:21 PM ^
and we just added a little Maize!
January 6th, 2011 at 9:20 PM ^
Harbaugh - No thanks
Patterson - I'll Pass
and so on and so on and so on......Enter RR2
Hey DB, failing to plan is planning to fail
January 7th, 2011 at 1:39 AM ^
Anyone but Hoke. Do not want that guy ripping our offense apart AGAIN!!!!!!!!
January 7th, 2011 at 5:30 AM ^
Tom Brady and Charles Woodson as Co-head coaches?
January 7th, 2011 at 9:08 AM ^
Doom is nothing
Auburn fan freaked out when Chizik was hired and actually showed up at the airport to boo and hiss at their coach.
Give the new coach a chance when he's hired to show what he is capable of, whoever it may be. It's probably not going to be Harbaugh, it might even be Miles. Support the new coach until he does something on the field to make you hate him. Give him a chance to prove himself
RR never got that chance, he was hated by some since Day 1
January 7th, 2011 at 9:54 AM ^
I will really have trouble supporting Miles for moral reasons. I'll get behind any coach regardless of coaching experience, but I struggle with the idea of supporting someone who wantonly ruins a teenager's life with lies and a form letter, then blatantly lies about it in public. If anybody deserves treatment like what Rodriguez got, it is Les Miles.
The well being of any teenager is more important than winning in a game.
January 7th, 2011 at 11:31 AM ^
DB looks like an idiot that is in way over his head. How do you fire RR a guy that was begging to stay and not even have a better candidate lined up. I mean come on...Brady Hoke is an upgrade over RR...I dont think so.
I want Chip Kelly
January 7th, 2011 at 12:41 PM ^
Rich Rod is a classless, arrogant asshole of a coach with no love for Michigan and a distinct lack of "family values".
Oh, wait, that's not what you got from the video?
...
Oh.
Damn.
