Article on Manny Harris Earning More Playing Time

Cavs are not doing particularly well this year and in an effort to get the team going, Byron Scott switched up the rotation. Manny played 21 minutes against the bulls, scoring 6 points on 2-7 shooting. I hope he does well.

Glad to see Manny getting some playing time. I hope he does well also. Any word on Deshawn Sims?

Last I heard on Sims was that he was back in the States, but I'm not sure if he is playing somewhere.

He's playing for the Maine Red Claws in the NBADL.

I'm really rooting for DeShawn as his attempt to play in Greece didn't work out.
Good news on Manny getting more PT as well.

My biggest neg bang ever came when I doubted Manny's pro potential. I never thought he'd be this good in the NBA. But congrats, Manny.

he's not just getting playing time, but learning time. He seems realistic about what he needs to improve and willing to work on it. And getting the confidence of his coaches.

Yeah, from what I gather from following his twitter is that he's always excited about training and getting better. Awesome to see him get so many minutes in a game. Hope that trend continues.

Somewhere in this discussion there should be a nod to Beilein. Would Manny have had this success if he had been more pampered at Michigan? Beilein was pretty tough on him at least a couple of times and it is probably serving him well.

Byron Scott seems to really like Manny, and Scott's not known to be the most cuddly coach in the league. Being able to accept and respond well to stern coaching is definitely a skill.

Super small n, but Manny had two steals the other night and is averaging 1.2 per game in just 11 minutes per contest. This probably isn't scalable (more minutes = less berserker), but it looks like he can seriously make some plays on the defensive end. I was pretty skeptical about his defensive ceiling given his limited wingspan, but I'm happily on the way to being proven wrong.

D league stats and saw him up near the top averaging 18/8 pts/rebs for Iowa. Didn't know he was still playing.

Sims was 08-09 MVP of the D-League. Bret Petway was defensive POY that same year, and won the dunk contest (surprise, surprise). The man formerly known as "A-Geezy" (Air Georgia) is now the newest member of the Harlem Globetrotters, nicknamed "Thunder."
