I will never have to hear my child make a statement like "Why does anyone care about Michigan football. Were they ever good?"
That will be my day of eternal sadness.

Awesome. I want that on a T-shirt.

That sums it up perfectly.

But the more I think about it, as a current UI student, the only thing motivating me to try hard in school, or even go to class for that matter (as sad as this is), was the possibility of a national championship this season.

One of my best friends is a girl I met when we both taught classes as graduate students at UI.
I need to send her this quote.

The Domer nation confirms that it has never been outplayed or beaten by a better team. Out-officiated? Definitely. Over-achieved? Still better on paper! Out-coached? Maybe. But they have yet to meet a superior opponent. Even when they talk about having the potential for a 1-5 start, they are baffled that they aren't playing up to the individual talent on the roster. Delusional.

I actually feel bad for Notre Dame. I don't hate them, although I haven't met any annoying fans either. In a lot of ways, they are very similar to us (huge tradition, diminishing reputation, trying to get things back together, etc.) but we've somehow had the good fortune to be able to outplay them the past couple of years. I hope they're able to win out the rest of the season -- selfishly, because that would make our win over them look better, but also because that would mean they beat USC.
Edit: I just remembered that I've seen the damefan1 videos, so I've witnessed annoying ND fans. I just don't know any personally.

Count your blessings.

the one really big Notre Dame fan I know is someone I worked with when I lived in Atlanta. Fantastic fellow and we commiserated back in 2008 when we both stunk up the joint.

I'm glad to see that Tacopants was able to settle in a good situation where he will get quality playing time!

It took me a little while of lurking on the board to comprehend the concept and spirit of "Schadenfreude."
Now it is one of my favorite features of this board that truly look forward to each and every week.
So it's no surprise that Notre Dame fans knock out our weekly Quest For Ty, declaring a couple third down passes short of the sticks "Weisingham-esque."
Well done.
