Would it be worth it, knowing what was coming: The Horror, The Aftermath, 2008, 2009, sanctions, etc? Serious question.

Fair point - better to just look ahead.

I can't argue with you.

The 2006 defense kinda scares me and makes me glad I'm on my couch and not on the field playing against people like that. David Harris is probably still writing mothers apologies for the hits he put on their kids that year.

Why does YouTube freeze on people jingling their keys? Ugh.

Why does this highlight have people jingling keys at all?
August 24th, 2010 at 7:02 PM ^
On third downs, students jingle their keys and scream at the top of their lungs to pump up the defense. Defense obtains a lot of its energy from the fans, so I thought I should incorporate that.

Unfortunately, they typically just jingle their keys. It's painful on a big 3rd down.

what a defense. Always loved David Harris smashing a RB's face before he even got to the LOS.

Man we were good. I need this to be the case again. A great defense is just so fun to watch.

All of the players from that D that went to the NFL not to mention the talent on the offense that went to the NFL just adds more fuel to the fire that they werent able to win the NC that year.

The last few years make me respect that defense so much more than I did back in 2006. You don't know what you got till it's gone, I guess. Pretty cool video. Makes me wonder when we will have another great defense.

Seeing Brady Quinn get up with that huge grass sod on his helmet just never gets old.

What a year, what a defense!
I think we were one more great cornerback away from actually beating OSU and winning the NC that season.

We were one great cornerback away from 8-9 wins last year. The defense would have been totally different. Imagine MSU, Iowa, Purdue, Illinois, and even OSU if there was a solid secondary.

I think we were a couple pages short of opening up the playbook away from winning the NC.

Given the fact that the average life expectancy for an NFL player is like 56 and they are something like 40 times more likely to develop degenerative brain illness than the general public (I don't know of statistics for college football but at this level I assume it is not good for you) is it appropriate to celebrate "big hits" -- even clean ones?
It's a legitimate question not a rhetorical one, because I don't know how else to make a defense highlight video and this was a lot of fun.
Anyway, I'm prepared to lose the 21 points I have worked so hard to accumulate.

That's football, man.

I enjoy reading up on mgoblog, but have never chimed in; however, in this case, 2006 was THE YEAR of big hits. My most memorable was Alan Branch's (2) huge bear hug tackles that took out PSU's 1st & 2nd string QBs. Can't wait to see who our standouts will be this year!
