Troy's loss will certainly be felt, but I think we'll be okay. The team will bond even more. The young DBs will surprise us pleasantly.

And I'm drinking the koolaid too. I hope that Ewing theory is in effect and the rest of the secondary steps up their play since our best guy is out.
17 Days.

You must be the Mgoblog therapist or something. I've seen your posts on basically all the T-wolf threads and you are saying basically the same thing....its gonna be ok...its gonna be ok.
Yur right, we'll be fine, just fine. Noooo worries here, nope................(*Begins sudden uncontrollable whailing)

Though your avatar still disturbs me
No pressure. Expectation is horror. People sometimes respond better when squeezed, and it's possible some our DBs are those people. Who wants to be a hero?

REALLY be disturbed.

Wow. Dude, that's . . . I don't know what that is.
August 18th, 2010 at 10:59 AM ^
I'm past the emotional reaction, but rationally speaking I see no way that JT Floyd and a two freshmen behind him can possible be what we hoped for PRIOR to Woolfolk/Turner, which was adequate/average corner play. And without average CB play, and the likely fall off in pass rush given BG's departure, I honestly don't see how the defense can improve. Maybe I'm off base, but I don't think so.

I am not in a huge panic.
I guess I still beleive...

ALL IS WELL!!!!
August 18th, 2010 at 10:51 AM ^
I guess I can't to be surprised with all the shitty luck we've had in the last 2 years. I was expecting a meh 7-5, now probably a Little Caesar's Bowl. I guess it's not a huge difference since we weren't going to win the B10 or go to a BCS bowl game anyway. The one impact it could have is hurting our recruiting. What if we don't make a bowl because no one in our secondary is that good and people throw all over us? We could see guys who we have a good chance with choose to play elsewhere. Hopefully Cullen can play very well, and Avery too.

And we better hope they are DURABLE!
August 18th, 2010 at 11:01 AM ^
I was thinking 8-4, so I've adjusted to 6-6. Any worse than 6-6 and we weren't going to be 8-4 or better anyway. NO CB is worth any more than 2 wins at most. While this is a huge blow combined with the ridiculous amount of overall CB attrition, if this team was going to be 8-4 or better with Troy, it shouldn't be any worse than 6-6 without him. And that probably buys RR another year.
August 18th, 2010 at 12:12 PM ^
...that six wins will be good for RR at all. He needs at the very least seven and more likely eight wins to solidify his position at Michigan in my opinion.
Six wins will have Brandon making phone calls, I fear.

I have no other choice. I think we're going to be a good team this year, no matter how much that spiteful deity above wants to screw with us.
August 18th, 2010 at 11:16 AM ^
Makes us sound kinda girly. Couldn't we at least have a more manly barbaric yawp? Everything else gone, and he has to take away what manhood we had left after all the dong punches.

All this is pointing at one thing: Brian needs to start creating a "This Week In Schadenfreude", preseason style. Also, Hitler needs to weigh in on this as he does on so many other pressing topics.

I joined mgoblog right around the time Lloyd retired. I miss those days, when we were all speculating about Les Miles, and the prospect of a 3 - 9 season was unthinkable. I miss being blindly optimistic, and arrogantly assumptive.
August 18th, 2010 at 12:20 PM ^
...being relieved we didn't get Miles. Oh...you know what? ...I still am!
August 18th, 2010 at 11:52 AM ^
There is a big difference between having a shut down corner with blazing speed and having a decent corner who doesn't make a ton of mistakes, which is our best case scenario now. I did actually think Woolfolk was going to be the kind of guy who could take away (for the most part) another teams top wideout. Not many teams we play have 2 or 3 really dangerous receivers, so I thought we could hide Floyd or whoever was on the other side for the most part.
I have bee an 9-3 guy since the spring, but I thought Woolfolk, Turner and Dorsey would all be starting in some configuration. Even two days ago I thought 9-3 was possible but had come down to 8-4 being more realistic. Now I think 7-5 would be a good season.

I have to stick it back in the fridge to ice it up every half hour or so--those are the hardest patches to get through. Also, my wife promised me a back massage.

I'm in a state of moderate panic, which will only be relieved by seeing Dilithium burn through Connecticut.
August 18th, 2010 at 3:41 PM ^
I don't think the situation is as dire as many do. This may cost them one win somewhere, but I still think they have enough talent to get by the lower and middle-tier teams. That alone is worth six wins. I'm willing to make the other six games "tossups." If they win half of their tossups, that will come out to nine.
At any rate, I am still looking for nine this year. Whether it is nine regular season with a bowl loss or eight regular season with a bowl win, I still think this team can win nine.
