Meta: What the heck just happened to the post format??
It hurts my eyes! And is kinda hard to follow without the boxes and stuff. Maybe there's more dilithium in them.
Is this something breaking down, or the new format?
Edit: Sidebars are acting whacky too...something is up.

by Brian pretty much sums it up. replying mid-thread, point exchanges, read options, etc.
August 12th, 2010 at 4:53 PM ^
These changes are bullshit. Why do I have to give up points to vote? I guess I needed the changes so I can stop my mgoblog addiction. Peace.
August 12th, 2010 at 5:11 PM ^
i find it okay to lose a point if only to neg you

I kinda like it. Without the boxes, I feel like I'm floating in space. Nicely done.
August 12th, 2010 at 4:36 PM ^
Yeah, I actually changed computers thinking something was wrong with my laptop.
This hurts my eyes.
August 12th, 2010 at 4:41 PM ^
Damn the Torpedos!
August 12th, 2010 at 4:41 PM ^
I don't like it, but if it gets us more wins this year, I will deal with it.
August 12th, 2010 at 4:49 PM ^
From what i can tell i like this new system.
It cost's a point to vote, makes you think alittle more before you vote.
Down votes are now -2, Up votes are now +4. Makes all the sense in the world to me.
August 12th, 2010 at 4:54 PM ^
Yeah, cause you're a fucking idiot.
August 12th, 2010 at 4:56 PM ^
I'd downvote you for being a douche, but that would cost me a point.
August 12th, 2010 at 5:11 PM ^
Thats my fucking point, and that's why I'm pissed. Either way, fuck my mgopoints.
August 12th, 2010 at 5:15 PM ^
you enjoyed being a prick freely?
August 12th, 2010 at 6:09 PM ^
I enjoyed your last avatar better.
August 13th, 2010 at 3:18 AM ^
Exactly!!
The MGoPoints system was instituted as a way for the board to kind of self-moderate... but it kind of defeats the purpose if it costs us MGoPoints to do the very thing MGoPoints were invented to accomplish.
(That ended up sounding weird but hopefully makes sense.)
August 12th, 2010 at 4:57 PM ^
Needs more haloscan.
August 12th, 2010 at 5:09 PM ^
Everything feels much more, shall we say, free range. Commando, even.
The new voting rules make this more like No Limit Hold 'em. I'll be playing tight holding my votes close, and I'll let BlockM and others splash the pot.
First post in many months! Woo hoo, new corporate internet policy.
August 12th, 2010 at 6:21 PM ^
change it back! the main board is to hard to read. shit is too narrow and small.
August 12th, 2010 at 6:30 PM ^
Getting used to this is going to take a while. We need to get some polls up on the new look and the new voting rules.
August 12th, 2010 at 6:48 PM ^
there are no rules
August 12th, 2010 at 11:56 PM ^
Agree. The column with topic titles on it is too narrow. Widen that a bit and things will be a'ight.
August 13th, 2010 at 12:04 AM ^
Someone should probably add that link to the HOF wiki. In fact, I think I'll go do that right now.
August 13th, 2010 at 12:14 AM ^
Thanks for the info..... I use Chrome but the FireFox people will no doubt find that useful.
August 13th, 2010 at 9:51 AM ^
The script part of the instructions should be about the same
August 12th, 2010 at 6:33 PM ^
Do not want.
Edit: I still have some other board pages up from earlier, I'm going over there.
August 12th, 2010 at 9:19 PM ^
...this new fangled spread format of mgoblog! This will never work at Michigan!
August 12th, 2010 at 9:47 PM ^
I definitely preferred having the user information on the left side. This is a little disorienting.
August 12th, 2010 at 10:47 PM ^
I too find the new format to be a bit disorienting, but that's progress. I'm sure Brian will make it usable once again.
August 12th, 2010 at 11:02 PM ^
I think we have to go back to tradition.
1. Big O line
2. Permanent Captains
3. Fort Schembechler
4. Old Mgoblog
August 12th, 2010 at 11:55 PM ^
On comments/posts, can we please have the avatars and usernames put back on the left? Having them on the right is really disorienting....it's honestly making me feel kinda dizzy and disoriented b/c every forum I've ever posted on, avatars and usernames are on the left side of the posts.
August 13th, 2010 at 12:04 AM ^
the new format is to allow overflow and prevent the narrowing of response boxes and maintain the text as a block. to put the icon on the left would prevent this
August 13th, 2010 at 12:12 AM ^
That honestly doesn't make sense to me...... Whether the avatar and username are on the right side of the post or the left side, the total width of them both is still gonna be the same.
Maybe I'll get used to it but right now I feel like I'm trying to read Hebrew since everything is backwards.
August 13th, 2010 at 12:20 AM ^
This is my problem as well. I liked it much better when I knew who was commenting before I read the comment, as my eyes normally go right to left, catching the avatar and name before the post. I feel like it's just a random series of posts without any personality.
August 13th, 2010 at 3:06 AM ^
Exactly. Avatars help personalize an internet discussion. It's like a person's virtual face.
With them on the right and kind of out of view it feels like it's not really a conversation but just words on a screen since the context that a person's avatar sets isn't right there when you start reading the post.
August 13th, 2010 at 2:17 PM ^
That it doesn't work. Because, they're narrowing. Probably at mostly the same rate, minus a little overflow under the avatars, if the post is long enough. But I don't think you're gaining that much.
August 13th, 2010 at 12:39 AM ^
Was that really a big concern? It seemed like it only came up once in a while, and when it did, it seemed like most people found it amusing to see..
August 13th, 2010 at 5:50 AM ^
Made me laugh.
