Seniors, RR to switch up Team Captain format
Apparently, he listened to the seniors wishes and will elect two permanent captains. They were to be notified tonight:
As noted below, Moundros and Schilling have been chosen as the permanent selections.
can be found in this thread
You should just edit the thread to reflect Shoe's info below to make it into a discussion about the selections
I normally follow your lead but there is currently no discussion of Moundros as captain on the other thread. That was not know until I read this thread.

My comment was based upon the impending announcement. However, now that it's been announced this one can just become that discussion. That's also why I brought the thread back after it was removed by another mod.

Hence the reason for me typically following your lead.

i was just clarifying that the original idea of the post - that the captains were going to be selected - had been superseded by the selection and that the OP should just edit the post to make it about the news. wasn't trying to be prick'ish with my comment but just utilizing the comments rather than outright deleting it, etc.
...decision:
UM_CoachRod The two captains for the 2010 season as voted by there teammates are LB Mark Moundros and LG Stephen Schilling.
Moundros: very interesting.
I'm really surprised that Woolfolk is not a captain. I guess a little disappointed too.

Maybe the "diseased" vote shot him down ....
Was the grammatical error taken as is?

...and paste. He or his twitterer is not a careful speller, apparently.
I'm just curious why you think that is interesting?
...the defensive captain, and it may be an indication that he's pressing Ezeh a little harder for the starting spot than expected. It may also mean nothing more than he's a great leader, even as a backup.
We shall see.
I hadn't even thought that there'd be one offensive and one defensive. That makes sense though. That is pretty interesting, he might be completely converted to LB by the time the season starts.
... that the team elected Moundros over Woolfolk for defensive captain? Woolfolk seems like the kind of player (at least based on interviews) that everyone would get along with and respect.
Its interesting because I was thinking that he'd have a defensive captain and an offensive captain. If you weren't thinking that, then it is less interesting... Its also interesting if RR is tipping his hand that Moundros is, in fact, solidly an LB, when we were told he'd be battling for it but could still be an FB. Interesting... EDIT: Damn, I type slow.
I knew something was up when I searched and didn't see a thread already started on this topic.
TBH, I would much rather read a thread than start a new one anyways...
...FTW:
BKudron lol five straight retweets of Coach Rod's captains tweet within two minutes.
I had six, and one of them... was TOB's:
BKudron RT @UM_CoachRod: The two captains for the 2010 season as voted by there teammates are LB Mark Moundros and LG Stephen Schilling.
Seems people are hanging on RichRod's every Tweet these days.

This move comes out of the OMGShirtless school of Jackassedness. You're supposed to be better than that. Unless that's the type of poster you want to be.
...that's fucking hilarious. I watched that whole thing with total bemusement that anyone would actually give a shit about my little throw away post about "Hard Edge". It was one of the silliest things I've ever seen, especially when all the 'scorners started coming to OC's defense.
Sorry you didn't get my self-referential joke.

is you went out of your way to edit the post with a paragraph mocking Chris' comment and then are still talking about it. he felt it wasn't necessary for you to repost all the material, you disagree - fine. but you keep bringing it up and being pissy about it, while acting like you're above it.

I am not above that type of move, but I don't pretend that I am.

...what OMG meant. Thanks for providing an interpretation, though.
Re: the edit on my "Hard Edge" OP, OC said the post was lacking in newness, so I obliged him. I aim to please. I am sorry you were offended by it.

CAN'T we all just get along?!
August 9th, 2010 at 10:24 PM ^
Maybe I'm crazy, but I didn't see any 'scorners coming to OC's defense. I think we all negged him repeatedly because that's just how we roll.
August 9th, 2010 at 10:26 PM ^
...rolls so mesmerizingly.
Another tremendous development.
Congrats to both Schiling and Moundros. I am glad the team has recognized Moundros as a captain, after hearing his interview from the Big Ten Media Day. He seems like an ideal team leader to me.

Schilling and Moundros are poor choices for team captains. Collectively they don't have enough hair for a single dreadlock.

Three things stick out to me.
1. Increased size of our players
2. Return of Fort Schembechler
3. Permanent captains
I like what Rich is doing

Wonder how long before the first whiny newspaper column comes out lamenting how Rich Rod has become uncommunicative and truculent with the media.
"No comment" should become Rich's most popular answer to a question from the media, unless it's a question from Mike Rosenberg, in which case the response should be "Go f#*k yourself".

I think it is great to see Moundros as a captain. We need to have as many leaders as possible on this team, and it is good to see that RichRod gives the players their due for their hard work. I know that this is a minor example, but please look at Moundros in Stonum's Kickoff TD against Notre Dame last year.

If we can get all guys to work this hard every play, we will see great strides in 2010.
I love this blog. Go Blue!

is pure WIN. Bravo, Rich!

I'm not surprised with the Moundros pick, and I don't even think it necessarily means that he's supposed to be an LB or even a defensive contributor on the field. The pick, i think, makes sense because it seems like recently all we've been hearing about is how Moundros is working really hard to try to do whats best for the team. The captain situation might just be something more about picking people who have a phenomenal attitude as opposed to players that are dominant on the field.
Though I do wish T-WOLF was picked, just because he seems like a fuckin' bro.

and I think the seniors got it right in this case. I was surprised to learn of Moundros's selection, but it testifies to the level of respect that he gets from his teammates.
