Press Conference Today

Submitted by blue16 on

I remember reading somewhere (probably on this board) that Coach Rodriguez was planning on having a press conference after practice today.  I did a search and couldn't figure it out, but is he still planning on that press conference or no because the actual practice was closed to the media?

Joe_Stapes Which quarterback took the first snap? "Its a secret."

MVictors On Tate, knows he's got a lot to prove himself and he's willing to do it.

Joe_Stapes Regarding seniors calling Tate out about not coming to workouts, Rodriguez said he was glad seniors are taking ownership of the team.

MVictors RichRod: everybody that was injured is back except Will Heniger

mikerothstein RR: "I don't watch summer workouts" when asked about Forcier.

Joe_Stapes Michael Shaw is still completing summer school, has not yet been cleared.

mikerothstein RR: Impressed by punter Hagerup. Sounds like he'll be the guy for Connecticut

Joe_Stapes "I think we have a pretty fast freshman class."

mikerothstein rodriguez will give walk-ons scholarships this year like prior years.

MVictors Kelvin Grady says he's "a fulltime football player" says RR with a chuckle.

umbmad Talk about players tweeting. RR says players need to be careful-no ban! But is a concern

MVictors On Brock Mealer "I'm as proud of him as anyone I've coached" .

I really like this. You know why? All the media has done is try to make RR look worse and worse in every way possible during the offseason. So why give them the perk of getting to watch the practices? It'd be cool if he could just exclude the Freep (and other hack writers) that way, but I doubt only allowing reporters RR likes into practice is acceptable.

After the way many in the media have handled the more open culture of the program, I am glad they are closing down the Fort again.  Sucks for us in terms of news, but it will be easier to protect the info that gets out this way.

...post is no more, here's the captain announcement from the horse's mouth:

UM_CoachRod The two captains for the 2010 season as voted by there teammates are LB Mark Moundros and LG Stephen Schilling.

The fact that Moundros is the defensive captain is interesting because it may mean that he's pushing Ezeh harder than we expected.  Or it may just mean that he's a great leader, even as a backup.
