Way OT: Most disturbing movie you have ever watched?
February 1st, 2018 at 2:51 PM ^
I have not seen the live action movies.

Or Eraserhead - take your pick.

RfaD - it's on my list. Should I watch it?
February 1st, 2018 at 12:48 PM ^
absolutely. just don't plan on feeling happiness again for a day or two.
February 1st, 2018 at 12:54 PM ^
Don't. I don't ever plan on watching it ever again.

I watched the director's cut... never again.

Interesting--AV Club had a list of "Great Films too Painful to Watch Twice." Number one on the list was Requiem for a Dream. Sounds like many of the MGo Community had exactly the same reaction.

This is what I was going to say. Requiem For A Dream is damn heavy. Ellen Burstyn's storyline is tough to swallow.
February 1st, 2018 at 12:53 PM ^
watched it once and gave it away. Won't ever be able to watch it again. Even the J Connelly sex scene is depressing as hell.

When it first came out. It affected me for at least 2-3 days after.

Requiem was going to be mine as well. Sometimes, I would watch only the first third of the movie if I wanted to appreciate the gorgeous beauty of Darren Aronofsky's directing without going into a depression.

RfaD, like a mofo. Sadly, I saw it while on friggin' vacation. Went down to San Diego for a couple days after attending the 2004 Rose Bowl. The guy hosting this dinner party wanted to watch it for some odd reason (he was a bit of a nut). The rotten cherry on top was getting one of the nastiest sinus infections of my life that night, costing me a planned surf day back in Los Angeles. Counting that next day plus two more back in Chicago, I was laid out for 3 full days. I blame it all on RfaD. Needless to say, have never watched it a second time.

Gotta agree with Requiem For a Dream.
After I watched it I stared blankly at the TV for another hour hour or so.
I think it's a great movie, but I've never managed to bring myself to watch it a 2nd time.

Agreed that Requiem for a Dream is a damn hard film to watch, but I think it's pretty important and almost feel it should be required viewing for HS seniors/college freshmen/young men and women somewhere in that age range.
Eraserhead is just weird, man.
A Clockwork Orange isn't the easiest flick to watch either, even though I think it's incredible.

was stupid, not so much disturbing. Just a waste of time.
February 1st, 2018 at 12:34 PM ^
I caught it one night on HBO or something along those lines and couldn't really believe what I was watching. I didn't see the whole thing, just a couple segments and that was plenty.
I was also extremely disturbed by the movie Rudy.

V/H/S was great! I like part 2 as well. Part 3 was awful, though.
February 1st, 2018 at 12:39 PM ^
I'm not really one for horror.. more suspense. I caught the part with the chick in the hotel room and I almost threw up. I may not be suited or that type of movie.. lol

did not make it through V/H/S. Scared me silly.
February 1st, 2018 at 12:45 PM ^
I usually don't go for movies like that anyway, but was curious about it when I was flipping channels a little tipsy and sitting in a dark house. As a grown man, it gives me no pleasure saying that I was scared AF.
February 1st, 2018 at 1:21 PM ^
... when I was a kid (5-6 years old or something), I saw the "No WIRE HANGERS!!!" scene from Mommy Dearest.
That was pretty scarring.
I'm 32 now, and I don't think I've ever gotten over it.

Up until a certain point in my life I'd have to say "The Wizard of Oz" gave me a lot of nightmares.

Michigan vs MSU, 2015. End of game. There, fixed it for you.
February 1st, 2018 at 1:03 PM ^
The whole game had a nightmare vibe to it.
The soundrack would have featured Sabbath's "War Pigs" during the intro. Anything by This WIll Destroy You during the game and "Exit Music for a Film" by Radiohead during the dropped punt. Especially the part at the end of the song where Thom Yorke is mumbing "We hope that you choke...that you choke...you choke."
Fuck I'm depressed and horrified just thinking about it.
