2018 Depth Chart thoughts/predictions??

Submitted by amir_6 on
Obviously still have the Outback Bowl to go, but I am still very much looking forward to the 18-19 season! What do you guys think the depth chart will look like going into the ND game? The OL will be the key next year.. I got (Newsome, Bredeson, Ruiz, Onwenu, Hudson/Stueber)

Think Hudson will surprise with his strength, agility and violence. Also expect some other "surprise" guys with lots of minutes as the first off the bench: Singleton at WILL Nico at WR2 Schoonmaker at TE Luigi at WDE Woods and Hawkins at S VanSumeran at FB/H Thomas at nickel

I have learned exactly one interesting thing from this thread so far and its this: one man thinks that it's useful to tell us that his employee slept with Grant Newsome's nurse, and that Grant Newsome's nurse told the employee that Grant would never play football again. However, the "boss" in the situation did not ask how the sex with Grant Newsome's nurse was because that would be tantamount to fraternizing with his employee, and that is a no-no for the boss.

This was thought to be an informative thing to post.

all talk about him seems to be inside not at tackle

LT - Hudson or Stueber

LG - Bredeson

C - Ruiz

RG - Onwenu

RT - JBB or Stueber

if Filiaga grabs LG Bredeson could bump to RT

We'll play more 3-3-5 than 4-3. That will get our best personnel on the field more.

Patterson will be eligible. His battle with Peters will be the main topic of conversation in the spring.

Evans will be used as a receiver a lot more.

Spanellis will be one of our top 6 OL. He may force his way into the starting lineup over one of the RS FR.

Friday, Petit-Frere, Anoma, Ford

Not that any would necessarily start though who knows. Anoma maybe more possible now that Alabama just lost their DC. Ford I think is still a long shot.

I spoke with Grant at length in Dallas during pre-game warmups of the UM v UF game. He was jogging on the sideline then and told me he thought was close to being ready. Obviously he never saw the field but I think those who are already writing this kid off don't know a damn thing about his resolve. I for one will not be at all surprised to see him on the '18 2-deep.

Shane Morris will petition for a 6th year and return with immediate eligibility as the NCAA's first ever PhD transfer, and win the Heisman along the way to the National Championship.

He will go 30 for 30 with 30 TD passes 15 straight times, setting a few records in the process.  450 passing TD's might be one of them, haven't checked the records though... 100% completion pct. is probably pretty good too I'd think.  450 passing yards a game will almost assuredly put him ahead of Lewerke & Hornibrook, if not a few others. 6750 passing yds might even be a Meechigan record or sumthin...

Not sure the rest of the lineup will matter too much.

Book it!

Would like to see them experiment with Bush at the WILL and insert Ross at the MIKE. Still have nightmares of McRay lining up against Barkley. Bush would be a better matchup against empty backfields.

I really really hope our 3 LBs is Singleton, Anthony & Bush all 3 super athletic & run sideline to sideline if need be. Those 3 would be like a Clemson or Georgia type crew. Anthony was a 5 star so I’m ready to see a 5 star hit our field

I responded to S Carolina Wolverine’s “No predictions, BUT” post on the mobile app with my “I heard the same rumors” post. He talked of Grant rumors. If you go to the thread on the actual site, his post is absent and it looks as if I am responding to Jgruss42. Must be a glitch.

Spanellis was the 6th lineman this year so he's in good spot to snag a spot next year. I think when newsome comes back he will move to RT. He may have lost a step with that surgery. Maybe Bredeson could move to tackle

I believe JBB ended the past two years starting at either of the tackle spots, and I think there is the option left of a 5th year for him next year. Doesn't seem that the safe bet is two freshman beat him out. But it could happen. There are 9 months to go. If the staff posted the top returning lineman as it stands now, one would think there'd be a lot of interior lineman at the top of the list. So it will be interesting to see what happens there, in the interior, and if any of those guys can hold up at a tackle spot -- with their "best five" philosophy..

Hmmm...

The OL (left to right): Hudson, Bredeson, Ruiz, Onwenu, Spanellis/Filiaga, with Peters at QB.

And thus ends the Michigan lineup drama...

Not because there aren't more position battles, but because these are the question points.
