Michigan vs OSU: QBs since 2001

Submitted by stopthewnba on

At some point this has to even out, no?

Navarre (01-03) and Henne (04-06) were the last real stability Michigan's enjoyed.  Since 2007, Michigan has been forced to play 7 (8?) quarterbacks vs OSU:

2007 - Ryan Mallet (Henne hurt/ineffective)

2008 - Nick Sheridan

2009 - Tate Forcier

2010 - Tate Forcier (Denard hurt)

2011 - Denard Robinson

2012 - Devin Gardner (was a WR all season, Denard hurt)

2013 - Devin Gardner (broke foot in game)

2014 - Devin Gardner

2015 - Jake Rudock (knocked out w/shoulder injury)

2016 - Wilton Speight (injured shoulder)

2017 - John O'Korn (?) (Speight/Brandon Peters injured)

-----------------------

Since 2001, OSU has used 6 quarterbacks TOTAL:

Craig Krenzel, Troy Smith, Braxton Miller, Terelle Pryor, JT Barrett (3 starts each), and Todd Boeckman (ha-ha).

Now I know what it's like to be an Oklahoma St fan against Oklahoma.

No matter how good your team is, something will inevitably make you lose to your arch rival.

At least Michigan still leads the overall rivalry.

Just stop with the overall bull shit. No one cares anymore. OSU has completely destroyed this rivalry since 2001. I cannot even remember what it feels like to beat a good OSU team. I am at the point that I don’t even get excited for this game. I actually dread this game now.

Namely why we’ve been so bad the past 10 years. That list of QB’s is atrocious. It is up to Harbaugh to get Dylan ready for next year because he is most likely our future. Peters should be option #2. Speight #3 or transfer

He has the inside track to be the starting QB next season. He beat out O'Korn and Peters by a mile this season. He led them to the NY6 bowl game.

As of now, heading to the 2018 season, it's Speight at #1, Peters/McCaffery at #2. Peters have an inside edge due to PT experience this season but can't deny that if it weren't for the redshirt, McCaffery would've been playing right now.

People act like Speight’s injury hasn’t hurt this team. Don’t understand the mindset that when the starting qb goes down the team should just roll along. If they were a veteran team than sure but cmon.

The reason all our QBs are getting hurt is our o-line can't pass protect.  This is not going to get any better against OSU's front 7.  It will get worse.  I think JOK takes one for the team and we try to get ready for the bowl and next year.  No one will admit that and we'll try to win with JOK, but I don't see Speight or Peters in there unless neccessity.

I heard Brandon is ok and might be able to play. Wilt is hoping to play as well. Not sure either will happen, but there's a chance. John could be 3rd string next week. If he's not then I hope he has the game of his life.

Do you really want 2 more years of Speight?  He still has another year of eligibility if Harbaugh wants him.  But, I'm personally ready for Peters to be our guy with an offseason to prepare.  McCaffrey can be the backup.  The bigger issue IMO is the LT.

"So, you're saying there's a chance" JOK won't have to start? Not that there's anything wrong with that if you are a fan of the Monty Python Holy Grail gameplan, "Run away, run away, I'm not dead yet."

Very gratuitously negative. Sorry.
