Hello: Ricky Leach
A dual threat player - Leach is planning on playing both Football and Baseball for the Wolverines. Leach was actually born in Ann Arbor so he knows the campus well and is expected (hoped?) to contribute right away. He attended Flint Southwestern High School in Flint, Michigan where he was selected as the first-team all-state quarterback by the Detroit Free Press in 1975. He broke every passing record in the Saginaw Valley League and was also an all-conference player in baseball and basketball.
FYI I just found this on line but I think this must be a picture of Coach Harbaugh demonstrating the proper form for taking a ball under center to Ricky during one of the many camps he attended here prior to committing.

were heavily recruiting Leach. He was the first Michigan player I idolized as a kid. Growing up I wanted to be the next Rick Leach to play at Michigan. Oh well, that did not happen. Since Harbaugh and I are about the same age, Rick Leach probably inspired him to play QB at Michigan!

He would probably be rated 5 stars at the time. Many teams ran option offenses with OU and NE running the wishbone. QB's back then had to run but a few like Leach could pass. Gardner was probably the last good QB to come out of the state.
