Lets Go Tigers!
Clap, Clap Clap Clap
With the bases loaded, but I'll take it.
Would be nice to see the O bust open a game early and this pitcher is struggling...
Tigers are lookin good. Especially Maggs and Miguel. And as much as i loved Granderson, Austin Jackson is the shit.
Hopefully Detroit takes today cuz taking 2 out of 3 against division rivals, albeit the royals and indians, would be a nice way to start the season.
At least Detroit got over the not hitting early in the game thing for today.
And is anyone impressed with the way Maggs has hit this season? Hasnt missed a step from his play the last 2 months of 09.
2 web gems in the 3rd, I guess that is why Everett is in the lineup. Bonderman perfect through 3
True but I'd still like to see less Everett and more Santiago.
Shhhhh!!!!!
Bondo no longer perfect, no longer no-hitting the tribe. Walk and single with two outs....
Real nice to see bonderman doing well.
And Maggs is proving me wrong. I wanted him gone before the $18 million bonus, but he's been on a tear. They said Maggs really worked on getting into better shape this year, and it's nice to see him crushing the ball; even on his outs, they're hard hit balls.
What the hell was that Bondo? That pitch wouldn't have made it to the plate in little league
to see Bonderman back and contributing. Hell of an outing today even though it was against the Indians. Looking good so far and like someone said yesterday, it's always great to see a Michigan squad handling a team from the state down south.
It's nice to see Bonderman having a good outing. He won't be the same pitcher he was before the injury, but hopefully he can be a solid starter.
Bondo got out of the first two innings unscathed? Even in '06 that was always his achilles heel.
Not Fu Ni when you keep hitting people
If we are going to hit two batters in a row, I'd always rather hit them.
It is hard for me to work up much animosity for the Tribe. For most of my life the Indians were just god awful and when they finally got good the Tigers were god awful.
Well done by Bonderman. This week made it look like the Tigers may well have a good rotation.
Oh, and congrats to Ryan Perry on his first ever save. Hopefully, Verlander can go deep tomorrow, and give our bullpen a rest.
Well now I have no excuse, have to cut the GD lawn after I clean up the dog shit. It suck to be me:(
as you.
Poop patrol and mowing, damn lawn has really sprouted in the last week.
On the game, WAY TOO MANY LOB.
We cannot afford to leave 16 men on base, 10 alone between the bottom 1/3rd of the lineup - Avila 3, Sizemore 4 and Everett 3.
I'm pretty optimistic about this crew. I still don't think we have a very good lineup, but man I really like the bullpen and the front 3 in the rotation. Still skeptical of Bondo and Willis, but hey, if they can manage to be mediocre I really like this team to do some damage in the central.
But I think we'll really need Verlander to eat some serious innings this year.
With Porcello's pitch count limitations, Scherzer's historical tendency to only go 5 or 6, Bondo's return from injury, and Dontrelle's... um... Dontrelle-ness, we need JV to be a horse.

Hopefully he doesn't throw as many pitches as he did last year....easily the highest in the majors.....he's getting to the age where injury is less of a risk, but putting that much wear and tear on and arm is potentially dangerous. The more the bullpen steps up all around the better it will be for the team.
Do Miguel Cabrera's facial features look different to anyone? See, e.g., how he suddenly has the jaw-line of a caveman.
I can't be the only one who has noticed this.
But the subject/title of your comment made me giggle a little bit.
The first flight through our starters was pretty solid, none of them really let in much at all. Our line-up hasn't been super consistent, but certainly has it's strengths (Maggs, Cabrera) and has had guys step up early (Jackson until today, Inge, surprise in Everett). You know proven hitters like Guillen and Damon will have solid seasons, so if the young guys can continue to hit well, we might be looking at a very solid team here. One of the most consistent starts in the MLB.
Also, what about the 1-4 start for the White Sox? All at home, too. They're gonna need to figure out how to win when Buehrle doesn't start. And maybe how to get a run or two over the plate.
Four losses by six runs= meh. I mean yeah they could have won a couple more, but none of them have been blowouts and their pitching has actually been solid all the way through the rotation. That offense is too good not to blow up at some point so I wouldn't be too concerned if I was a Sox fan.
Two things that have stood out so far for me:
1- We are drawing a decent amount of walks. This is a change from last year as we were somewhere in the bottom half of the majors in the category. It's nice to see Sizemore as one of the guys drawing the walks too. The 7-8-9-1-2 portion of the lineup was absolutely horrible last year at getting on base and to get an 8 hitter (and a 2 with Damon for that matter) who can get on base without having to get a base hit could end up being extremely valuable as the season goes on. Yes, Polanco and his .328 OBP last year was below average.
2- Zumaya and Perry have both looked spectacular so far. With Valverde (despite his blown save) being a better 9th inning option than Rodney last year, it's imperative these two players step up to build the bridge from starter to closer. So far, they absolutely have....Perry throwing 11 of his 12 pitches for strikes today.
All this being said, only five games have been played, but so far those are the most encouraging signs of success IMO.
