OT: MNF Lions at Cowboys Open Thread

Submitted by We are back on
Highly anticipated game, Cowboys aren't resting their starters and Lions are trying to secure a playoff spot without Slay, Swanson, and Riddick. Graham Glasgow is making his 3rd start at center for Detroit. Go Lions

You just proved you're clueless! You're still saying the same shit! You're saying refereeing doesn't matter. Um I think I'll letcha have this one. Elementary argument a dichotomy that can only be solved by telling on the bully. He hit me, teacher. You both get detention.

I'm not a Lions fan, I'm a 49ers fan since I was a kid. I'm sorry but put me in the NFL conspiracy theory category. I have hardly watched any NFL the last 4-7 years but every time I do the only thing I can think is that the whole thing is rigged. This game is exactly why I don't watch, don't spend money (admittedly I do have cable tv which basically is paying for it), and I just don't care about any NFL team or outcome anymore. It's just terrible, they pick a team to win in each game and the entire thing is just fake. The referees are there just to correct any attempt by the decided losing team to upset the decision already made on who will win by the NFL. Even the fines and punishments are decided by NFL PR. NFL is the new professional wrestling, such a joke.

They face a double buzzsaw next week against Green Bay. Rodgers is playing better than any QB in the league right now. Add to that Rodgers is one of the NFL's golden boys who brings in playoff viewers and next week is going to be an uphill battle. We'll have to out play a hot QB and the officiating crew. I don't like our chances.

You must not be a lions fan. There is real empirical evidence of the lions getting epically hosed by the refs in critical situations.

How about a couple years ago in the playoffs against the cowboys when the refs actually call PI against Dallas in at a critical point in the game and then they just decide to waive off the flag? It was so blatantly a PI, but Goddell must've somehow alerted the refs that he needed his second round matchup between the Cowboys and Packers. A little refresher: http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2015/1/5/7492849/cowboys-lions-nfl-playoffs…

Or how about the infamous catch by Megatron to beat the bears that was deemed incomplete on replay -- you know the one that actually directly led to a rule change?

Anyway, don't act surprised that lions fans expect to get screwed ... especially if it has the potential to match up NFL golden boys in the playoffs.

I didn't watch, but I'm reading that the officiating was terrible. Can anyone describe it in further detail?

How many accounts do you have that've been banned?

The Lions got hosed by the refs while the game was in doubt. The d-backs played rather good defense on the Cowboys when the score was 21-14 Lions and 21-21. They got called for two bullshit DPI penalties and two bullshit defensive holdings. Both lead to TDs, making the score 28-21. Then their D-line got a personal foul for tackling the NFL's newest Golden Boy too hard. If you're a Lions player, why even try at that point?

What game were you watching? The D-Backs never played good. They got beat like a drum all night and were the single biggest reason the Lions got waxed. Yea a couple bad calls but get fucking real, Cowboys are clearly a superior team. I'm so sick of the blaming of the refs for everything. Well besides the Ohio HOF crew, that was a legitimate major factor....

He was trying to say unless your from planet Voltron that the DB's were serviceable. Which was true. If you get your face mask grabbed and pulled by the superior Cowbell after that what are you to do? Anyways whatever you say is right. I don't think the Lions should've even played I guess is what you're saying! You suck so just let the receivers go by you because you're the greatest of alllllllllll time! Lol

there were a total of 4 egregious DPI and holding calls when the Lions' defenders actually played "good defense", if you're going by what most NFL d-backs do on every play. Compare what our guys did to Dez to the infamous DPI non-call (or rather, DPI reversal) in the 2015 playoff game.

The d-backs were at least playing well enough to keep the Lions in the game. But those calls directly led to 2 Cowboy TDs to make it 28-21. Then they got penalized for tackling Elliott with too much vigor, giving the Cowboys a first down on the Lions' 25 when it should have been 2nd and long at the 41. One trick play later and the game was over.
