No night games 3 of the last 4 years and then the Wisconsin game going from night to day with no real explanation. I can do the math.
Michigan's going to drag their heals on this whole night game issue for a while it seems. It's very unfortunate.

Relax. We have Harbaugh. After that bull shit from last year's game, there is no fucking way this staff and the team aren't going to be ready. I'll bet they were more pissed about the way the MSU game ended than the OSU one. One was the luckiest thing ever and MSU had no business winning. The other was just a beatdown by OSU with a depleted UM defense. Talent just won there. MSU did not win last year because they had more talented players. They were just extremely lucky.

Student section will also be half full until the end of the first and by then it could be time for them to start emptying out because of a blowout score.

You can just record everything for like 7 hours on multiple channels, I think DVR's do that now, then 0 chance of missing it. :P

Halloween party at 5.30.. this means I can watch the game without 22 3 year olds running around. Instead, only my 3 :P

This game is concerning me a lot more than it should.
An opponent with nothing to lose is a very dangerous opponent. Sparty's season is over in every way except for one: the Michigan game. There's no Big Ten title to play for. No playoff hopes. No NY6 bowl. No bowl possibilities of any interest to anyone, and likely no chance to get back into the Top 25 before the end of the year. But beating us would make none of that matter.
I'm expecting Sparty's best game when they play us. They'll make the tackles they don't normally make. They'll make the throws they don't normally make. I expect at least one fake punt from Dantonio, and at least one other trick play. He'll empty out his entire playbook if it means winning this game.
On paper, we should absolutely crush these guys this year. Especially on defense. But I'm just hoping the team is ready for anything, because as we all know, anything can happen in this game. I'd give anything for this to be a drama-free blowout, but don't be surprised if we go into the 4th quarter and its a one-score game.

Emotionally, I agree with you. The last eight years have made me a skeptic.
But I've now watched a couple MSU games this year, and this team is different. The front seven can't stop the run, and their offense can't open holes. The QBs are inconsistent. The secondary is burnable. Honestly, they were lucky to be within a couple scores of Northwestern - they got back into it thanks to two long bombs in the second half, one of which was tipped by the defender.
I have no doubt that Dantonio will pull something out of his ass that he's been saving for Michigan. But if things play even remotely close to form, it won't be nearly enough.

Our defense is looking like it's historically great & Staee will fold like a cheap suit as soon as U-M gets up by 2 scores. Morale on the Spartan team is as low as it's been in the Dantonio era (understandably), according to a father of one of their players.
October 17th, 2016 at 2:59 PM ^
If they're down 2 scores they'll empty the playbook. They'll be running entire schemes they haven't run all year but repped a hundred times for no other reason than to beat Michigan. It's not like practicing for Maryland changes their fate.
If they're down 4 scores, they're going to start going for players' heads and knees, if they haven't already. They will actually experience satisfaction if they literally cripple a Michigan player.
They may give up on the game, but this animal won't stop kicking. The one thing I'm terrified of is that we need the refs to be all over the game to keep the players healthy, but. . . B1G refs. Might as well ask Purdue to stop Alabama's run game.
October 17th, 2016 at 4:05 PM ^
I hope we get the starters out as soon as the game is out of reach instead of continuing to crush them. As much as I'd like to win by 50, we have bigger goals and they're likely to get very dirty.

Reminds me of the 2000's where'd we get Sparty's best shot and despite being far more talented they would always play us close
Difference is unlike Lloyd, Jim does not play down to the level of the competition. This isnt the country club atmosphere that Lloyd cultivated towards the end of his career with players partying all night before game day. Best be sured after last year Harbaugh has this game circled and the players will be out for blood and revenge.
I dont think this game is close. I just cant see a team this bad keeping up with a defense that quite frankly may be the best UM defense of all time. Only thing I would worry about is Speight getting the ball downfield, but otherwise should be a curb stomping.

I'm okay with it. As I won't be able to sleep much the night before, being able to watch at Noon and be happy for the rest of the day trumps watching at 3:30 and having anxiety all morning waiting for the damn annihilation to commence.

I normally don't like noon games, but I'm OK with them on the road against a hostile crowd. It tames the crowd and takes them out of it somewhat.
When your opponent is inferior, the last thing you want is to give them any kind of inspiration from a frenzied crowd. In an empty stadium in the middle of the day, we beat MSU 10 times out of 10.
This was true last year against Penn State. Compare that tepid noon game to a typical PSU white-out night game.
It was like, er, night and day.

Noon is good from a public safety perspective... a later game would mean drunker fans... and more immediate couch burning in the recent emotions after a loss.
This way they'll have to start pounding earlier and there will be a cooling off period before the Cedar Heights debauchery starts.

I wonder how many of us living in "ACC Territory" (WTAE in Pittsburgh is the ABC channel here) will have to watch on WatchESPN since inexplicably the ACC gets a game on this channel starting at 12:30. Pitt vs. Virginia didn't end until well after 4, and we all missed essentially the entire first quarter of Indiana vs. Nebraska.
I bet I can find a cheap ticket and maybe I'll just drive to up East Lansing to see Little Brother get put back in his place!
