Purists may hate this, but as somone who has played and coached baseball for 40+ years I fucking love this. Baseball is too stiff and boring and I love the energy of Bautista's bravado. Not to say he might get one in the ear, but I love this brand of cocky baseball.

And, actually, Purists also loved the fact that Odor took it to him for being an ass hat.

MLB is the ultimate "no fun league". You've got a bit of a problem when your young stars are on record saying they'd like the game to be more fun.
I've always thought it strange that you're allowed to celebrate personal success in pretty outlandish ways in every other league but baseball. Doesn't mean I love the sport any less. But it is weird.

Except Nik Stauskas I suppose

Stauskas is from Mississauga, a Toronto Suburb (actually one of if not the largest suburbs in Canada and the USA).

For Canadians, Toronto is basically their New York. If you're not from there, you probably root against them.
October 6th, 2016 at 5:18 PM ^
Eh,
Canadian baseball fans only have one team to root for. When the Jays played in Seattle at the end of the season, Canadian fans from Vancouver and British Columbia poured in to Safeco.
October 6th, 2016 at 5:21 PM ^
Affirmative. Not only does BC love the Jays and flock to Safeco, but I was in Calgary last spring watching the Red Wings. After the game at a packed bar, the city of Calgary rooted on the Jays against the Royals. So I guess the Jays aren't just for Torontonians.
October 6th, 2016 at 5:31 PM ^
When Toronto is the only Canadian option, then it's different - people in the other provinces will (mostly) rally behind them out of national pride. But they would rather cheer for another Canadian city if they could.

Sadly though I think the "summer of Cleveland" ends in here. Too many injuries for Cleveland to overcome so I'm calling Boston in four. Our once dominant starting pitching has been gutted so now we're left with starting Trevor Bauer in game #1. Not good.
Hope to be wrong but......

NO NO NO NO NO sir, don't you become a Tribe fan along with a Tiger fan! There are rules here!!

but he's from like Pontiac or something.

As a Red Sox fan my head's been saying Boston in four, but I have a feeling this will be a grind. CLE's bullpen scares me.
October 6th, 2016 at 5:06 PM ^
If Cleveland can somehow get 6 innings out of their starters not named Kluber they can hang in there as Miller can give you 6 outs and Cody Allen has been quite reliable this year.
Is Kimbrel still going to get the first chance to close for the Sox? He was quite awful down the stretch.
October 7th, 2016 at 11:24 AM ^
Kimbrel had an ok 2nd half with a few hiccups. Last night the BP kept the Sox in the game after Porcello shit the bed. The Red Sox bullpen was solid in Aug/Sept. OTOH, CLE's has been scary good.

But rooting for Rangers today. Longstanding tie to Texas as I caught a connecting flight out of DFW airport about 20 years ago.
Also, Founders IPA FOR THE meh.
October 6th, 2016 at 5:42 PM ^
Well that's what can happen when you have a natural SS playing CF. Hell of an inning from the Jays.
October 6th, 2016 at 5:57 PM ^
It appears that the Rangers have forgotten how to play baseball.
