Hype Train: Sam Webb edition

Hey all. Found this snippet from Sam and had to share. Keep the train rolling!

Let's end on a positive note...

This team looks good. Really good.    I believe Wilton Speight has greater command of the offense than Jake Rudiock did last year at this time.  I still believe Michigan will roll into Columbus undefeated.  There is every reason to believe that all the lofty expectations placed on Michigan this year are attainable.

mods, I apologize if this is considering "looting" paywalled content... it didn't seem like that much intel compared to his actual posts

We barely beat Minnesota and Indiana, but we also lost to MSU on the freakiest of freak plays and to Utah due to of a couple interceptions from a freshman WR and a QB playing in a new system. We could have been 12-1 as easily as we could have been 8-5.

If you're playing the "what if" game, it makes no sense to assume everything would have turned out as badly as it could have.

True, which is why us ending up with a 10-3 season pretty much is an accurate reflection of how good our team was last year.

Our luck was roughly even last year, and I think our team is better than last year's team.  So if we're in the middle of the road luck-wise this season, we'll go 11-2 or 12-1, and if we get a bit luckier than average, we get to the Big Ten Championship game or beyond.

In order for us to rack up a record like last season's 10-3 or 9-4, we'd pretty much have to be on the unlucky side of the ledger.

Mostly agree, though I'd say our net luck was negative on account of the MSU play being a struck by a meteor level of unlucky.  Also if you call Glasgow sniffing out the Minnesota play call and the line stuffing the play, and Delano Hill making a nice play on the IU receiver luck than, well I'm not sure what luck is.  You could argue Minny and IU were lucky to even be in a position to win on the last play.

Was just going to post this - what was in the paragraph immediately preceding this one?

I think the content value of camp nuggest is declining at a very rapid pace, and they hit zero on Saturday.  Probably OK to give a little more of that post.  This argument works because it suits my position.

There's an old saw about practice camp rumors - believe half of the good stuff, and all of the bad stuff.

I don't doubt that, but who cares.  ONE TICKET FOR HYPE TRAIN IS PURCHASED BY ME.  CHOO CHOO CHOO MOTHERF-CKERS
