OT - What Other College Teams Do You All Follow?
Pitt as well for me. My old man went there and I can't wait for the rebirth of the Pitt/Penn State rivalry. I branched out though and found my own team because of some Heisman trophy winning WR who wore a really cool helmet!
UVA, my undergraduate and home state institution. (I have an mba and another master's from UM btw). Hoping Bronco Mendenhall can restore us to respectability.
It helps that, although a little goofy, Les is a Michigan guy.
Eastern Kentucky University because I work there. (and I would never root for UK in anything even while living in Lexington)
Also, Kevin Koger is the EKU wide receivers coach.
Call-in shows after basketball losses are all sorts of win.
Calipari is a scumbag and Stuupes is a fat ass.

I follow BGSU, I went to school there. Not even close to Michigan in terms of my fandom, but i still follow them.
My undergrad degree is from BGSU, so I follow them a bit too.

and NMU. so much immediate and distant family history there.
I knew there were some others here.
Can't wait to see Air Force in the Big House again in 2017!
TCU- Team football colors were purple and white growing up
B1G east.
University of Houston because my daughter was in the marching band for 4 years.
That's where my son wants to go to school. I've taken him on a campus tour and he is hooked on the place.
I went to Michigan. Do I need another one?
I grew up in Pittsburgh. Many family members attended Pitt and or graduated from there. That and the scumbag Penn State apologists for child abuse enablers hate Pitt so that is more than enough reason to cheer for Pitt. Especially this year and next.
With the success of minor league soccer in UC's stadium this year I'd be surprised if they haven't considered dropping football and selling the stadium to the club if they can reach MLS. Long shot but possible.

I've tried really hard to be interested in UCLA since they are the closest team geographically to me that wasn't involved in the phantom touchdown, employed Pete Carroll, or is an acronym for university of spoiled children, but going to games there is just so boring. Yes, the Rose Bowl is beautiful, but it's like going to the beach or a nature walk. You enjoy the beauty of the place, but it's not terribly exciting.
I used to root for Northwestern when I was a kid because I liked rooting for the underdog and they were always the underdog, but since they've been good under Barnett and Fitz and another guy I'm forgetting about, I haven't cared as much about them.
Serious question: does anyone root for Michigan and MSU, Notre Dame and/or OSU (in any combination)?

My parents grew up in Ann Arbor as Michigan fans, but both went to MSU, so they cheer for both (although Michigan over MSU when playing). It's weird and confusing to me as well, and I have carefully avoided their sparty taint over the years.
Phrasing
I'm sure it happens. In NC I'm in the middle of the UNC/Duke thing and genuinely appreciate basketball when both are doing well at the same time. Some folks get downright religious about it. Nobody digs NC State unless you went there, which makes me kind of sad for them - they aren't clinging to the notion that they are powerful academically or athletically.
I may get shot for this, but I root for MSU most of the time when they are not playing Michigan. I worked there for 6 years and my wife has two degrees from there. I still hate myself for it.
Between this thread and the White Knight thread I feel like someone is trying to sniff out dissent. But why...? Frank: I need to go to Utah.
Duke: Grad school

I grew up in northern Nevada and have a lot of friends who went to UNR, so I like rooting for them when they're on the late night game and it's not a direct contrast with the Air Force game. I don't really follow them per se, but I feel compelled to root for the home state school when I can.

My parents went (and met) there. I also have a lot of relatives that graduated from Auburn.
I also watch Oregon because it is the local professional team.
When I get a chance, I watch Utah State. I spent eleven years there on the staff and knew a number of players from USU that played in the NFL; including Altie Taylor, half back for the Lions.
Got exposed to the program in Kansas
Everyone is very serious about being elite
Play a fun, exciting style
Great arena

I thought I might get into Texas football when I came here for grad school. Went to a couple games and realized I just didn't care. Actually found myself rooting for Rice in a game because Sam McGuffie was on their team.
Been a rough last 5 years for Texas...
Been here for exactly 5 seasons

Had a fantastic visit there in '07. Made friends. Hate their rival.
I live in columbus, so I follow OSU. I go to a game a year, but don't root for them. My GF is an OSU alumna and goes to 5-7 U of M games a year with me.
I try to be supportive, but I just can't root for them. She roots for Michigan very hard though. Admirable. I just try to comment on the X's and O's during OSU games because I like the style of their offense.
