Baseball: LaMarre Leaves Game Holding Arm
via Lubbock Avalanche-Journal
Michigan all-American CF Ryan LaMarre injured on dive of shot by LeJeune. Coming out of the game holding hand or arm. This isn't good. No word on the nature of the injury or time he'll miss. Michigan went hitless once LaMarre left the game yesterday (we had 4 hits in the first two innings, 0 in the last 7), and that worries me. The team needs to respond with a good showing today, especially if LaMarre might have to miss more than a game or so. Garrett Stephens filled in last night for LaMarre, playing left field and Biondi shifting to center. Game 4 of the weekend against Texas Tech starts in about an hour.

Update: He'll be out today as a precaution. His condition will be evaluated in Ann Arbor when they return tomorrow.

Update II:
via The Daily:
He left the game, and his status remains unclear until further evaluation in Ann Arbor today. Michigan coach Rich Maloney, though, thinks that he may miss "an extended period of time." “Obviously, that’s going to hurt,” Maloney said of the loss of LaMarre. “Someone else is going to have to step up. Injuries happen to all teams. It’s unfortunate that it’s our star player, but in the same token, we’re a team. Somebody else is going to have to pick up the slack.”I plan on getting another question into Maloney after they've had time to evaluate him back in Ann Arbor. Full weekend recap will probably come out late tonight.

Any reason why Oaks threw against Jacksonville State and not against Texas Tech? Are they just trying to set up their rotation like they would during conference play?

probably the right shoulder again. last year (or the year before?) he dislocated it diving back to 1st base on a pick off attempt.

LaMarre played all but two games last year (53/55), and 51 of the games the year before. I'm not remembering an injury for him, but it's possible I've forgotten.

well, then you might be right.

Burgoon was the shoulder injury last year. When I first saw the news, that was my fear was the same sort of injury. LaMarre missing a few games his freshman year rings a bell, but I can't place it or find any evidence of it. Even so, I don't think this would be directly related with this much time off.

When will the hits quit coming?

I've heard from an unverified source that it was tweeted as a wrist specifically. Our pitchers did a good job to finish the game out and keep it close, but our bats disappeared the moment he left.
Offense is sputtering a bit, but our pitching is what's getting us shellacked today. Travis Smith didn't make it out of the second inning and Kolby Wood is struggling as it is. Down 7-1 in the bottom of 4. Katzman just came in.
We manufactured a run in the first, but we've also squandered a chance or two. Toth getting caught stealing while Crank was up specifically stands out. Crank is batting over .500 still with 4 homers and 9 RBI. I'm not saying stealing was a bad idea, but it took the bat out of his hands with runners on base.

shoulder dislocation, seperation or a collarbone.

That was my initial guess, but like I said, the unverified tweet did say wrist. Again, unverified. The only thing I've got from the AD is that he's out and will be re-evaluated in Ann Arbor.

and the one today (which was not good). It was definitely a wrist that he was holding.
