OT NBA Draft Open Thread
Ben Simmons was taken first overall to Philadelphia. Our boy Jalen Rose is on the expert panel, and compared him to Grant Hill.
Brandon Ingram second to Lakers. No surprises yet.

Is that the next Steph Curry the Nuggets just drafted?
Seems like it.
Dear lord the Kings can't draft for shit. Should've had that team move to Seattle.
Looks like Maker to the Bucks here.
Celtics picking Brown over Dunn wasn't a wtf pick to you?
I don't know. He's probably the best big man in this draft. The other choices are very underwhelming.
I have to dusty off the "Sparty Nooo" for that tonight.
I highly doubt they take Valentine. Anybody with two eyes can see he's maxed out his potential, and is going to be a lackluster pro. He's no Morris Peterson, that's for sure.
I don't think he's going to be lackluster. I think MSU did a great job of hiding his defensive deficiencies in college, and that the offense and system bended itself to maximize his output and effectiveness. NBA teams aren't going to do either to the same extent, if at all.
To his credit, he had a great shooting season and proved to be a triple double threat and arguably the most well-rounded player in the league. I just think that may have been as good as it gets.
Apparently OKC traded Ibaka to the Magic... what does that mean?
Edit: Oladipo is going to OKC along with Sabonis for Ibaka. Oh shit. Durant must be gone right?
Not necessarily. I thought Ibaka was a shell of himself in the playoffs, at least in the games I saw (which admittedly was not all of the Thunder games).
Edit: Thunder also getting Ilyasova (who was with the Pistons for the first part of this season).
It means the end of dion waters. He was not the right fit in OKC, not sure he's a fit anywhere.
1st round:
Demetrius Jackson or Ante Zizic or Brice Johnson
2nd:
Caris Levert or Kay Felder or even Yogi Ferrell
Chriss went to the Suns, and now the Kings have this pick and the 28th.
There is a surprise pick, I have never even heard of him before this pick.
Kings have 3 Centers now... wtf.
Lord give me the strength
J.A. Adande
Whew - Valentine's off the board.

Very excited to see what Brandon Ingram can do with a non-Byron Scott coach and a decent young nucleus of D'Angelo, Julius Randle, Clarkson and Nance. It'll take a few years for the Death Star to become fully operational but I trust Mitch Kupchak to make the right moves.
I would expect part of that young nucleus to get shipped somewhere to land a veteran superstar. Clarkson is a restricted FA, so I wonder how much the Lakers are willing to spend to keep him with KD on the open market.
And the two best available players on Chad Ford's board are a PG and PF, the Pistons biggest areas to upgrade.
Should we be hoping to land Dejounte Murray (PG, Washington) or Henry Ellenson (PF, Marquette)? I've never heard or seen them play.
I doubt they take either. Neither is really that impressive, but we'll see.
Baldwin
Ellenson
Davis
Murray

Detroit should draft Skal.

I'm hoping Pistons can be the team to steal him. Still trying to figure out why Izzo didn't play him more.
Baldwin goes 1 pick in front of the Pistons.
Pistons on the clock now.
