QB injuries already?
This is my first discussion thread - apologies for any etiquette breaches:
I caught the spring game on BTN2Go - was generally impressed by the play so early in the year. Was a bit concerned when I saw Malzone leave with some issue with his left hand (he had been doing reasonably well). The announcers did not say anything about it (that I caught), but could this be a problem? The team is not exactly short on QB options, but considering that Baylor was forced to go to their 4th and 5th string QBs at the end of the season, one never knows how much depth is truly needed.
Was there any news of the injury?
Thanks.
EDIT: I see that many people have responded negatively to this post and I will re-iterate that 1) I just wanted to see if any official word on Malzone's injury was known and if it will effect his availability by fall and 2) I am NOT claiming that this is likely to have an impact on the team as a whole since he was unlikely to be in top 3 for that spot. I brought up the Baylor example to show that this is not a purely hypothetical problem.
I think we will be fine
I'm pretty sure his hand was stepped on. It looks like a cleat impaled the top of his hand. From experience, that hurts really, really bad. But since he plays for Michigan it's safe to assume he's not a pussy.
was anyone else surprised that is was full contact with the QB's? I liked it personally. Gets them some real game simulation and is early enough to usually not have injury risk for the regular season.
How many teams do you know of that had to go to their 5th string qb to start ever? Also it has a lot to do with how Baylor's offense obviously has a lot of designed QB runs...which we do not.
I hope its not a serious injury. I don't think Malzone is going to see the field at U of M. He is a good local talent and a fine young man, but the talent level at U of M at QB is off the charts. Peters and/or McCaffrey are the future.
OP please save yourself and change the thread title to "did Malzone hurt his hand"? Then post a picture of it or something.
every time we have an injury, you will be starting a lot of threads. The good news is that you will get a lot better at it.
Like a lot of guys here, you are probably under 12.
So, don't panic, and if there is anything wrong, a message board is not the place to go for any inside information.
Next--pretend you are a Michigan grad, it's worth a lot of cred here.
If there was a $5 mo they charge for this board it would clean up so much of this. Just to make sure people are old enough to own a credit card. You hit the nail on the head.

Looked like his hand got stepped on. Looked really nasty, like a huge lump had already grown on his hand before he even got off the field
Simple... Nothing to worry about

worst discussion thread ever. you should refrain from any further attempts.
I am totally confused when a post focuses on a Michigan injury, as if it is an unusual, frightful event. There will always be many injuries, whether in a Spring game, practices, workouts pre-game prep or certainly real games. My son broke his ankle in a local park pick-up game. I suffered a severe hematoma to my thigh in a NYC Central Park game with my cousin and his buddies; I was at NYU Law at the time and I was on crutches and a cane for months.
Posts anguishing or speculating on football injuries are just a waste of time. Like worrying about the weather, there's nothing to be gained by it.

looked broken to me.
Fortunately it was on his non-throwing hand. It kind of looked like he might have had it stepped on.
