Justin Wilcox hired as Wisconsin DC

This dude sucks. Wisconsin has assembled only a middling staff in the B1G West ( a huge negative when you think about which staffs are in the B1G West).

If he does well, he'll bolt asap. They got the biggest name that would take the job. Not sure that's the way to build a staff on the cheap. Durkin's doing a far better job, imo.

....as we have heard, compensation is an issue at wiscy with their coordinators and probably will not change as the prez over there does not want to be in the football arms race. In the article it mentioned this about Justin's past:
Wisconsin presumably stepped up financially to nab Wilcox. At Washington, his annual salary in 2013 was $800,000 before he left for USC, which does not disclose coaches' salaries. Previous Wisconsin defensive coordinator Dave Aranda made $520,000 last year, while Badgers offensive coordinator Joe Rudolph made $570,000.
I seriously doubt that wiscy stepped up to the $800k level, but if they did good for him, because if they had they may have been able to keep Aranda.

It might be a situation where he's still getting paid by USC, so they could get him cheap.

Blaming the "president" of Wisc (actually Chancellor) doesn't make sense - Barry A. has been a cheapskate for years, long before the current Chancellor showed up.
On top of that, Chancellor Blank spent almost a decade at Michigan -- you'd think she'd understand the value of football ...

Ol' Barry likes to coach in the bowls so he makes sure his coaches leave before the bowls.

Think you are right about that Cali Wolverine. Good time for Wisconsin to be back on our schedule next couple years, though they had a good season last year.

I read this as "mediocrity and cheap tires" and thought, "why would tires be any cheaper in the western midwest than other places?"

I want his agent.

I think Alvarez wants to run Wisconsin back into the ground with its budget practices just to show everyone he was the end all be all.

Wisco is still going to be the best program in the West. They lose to M/OSU/MSU in the confernce championship, who then goes to the playoffs.
Wisco's head coach gets poached by a midlevel P5 team.
Alvazer coaches Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl.
Profit.

He's got a Dave Brandon-esque feel of loving the spotlight in Madison. Coaching in their bowl games, limiting the football teams budget, etc. Almost seems like he wants everyone to remember that he is Wisconsin football and doesn't want to relinquish the title. I'd be pissed off if I was a Badger fan. How long till they run Alvarez out of town?

Have any impact with Boss Tagaloa? Parents don't want him far away, but if USC was an option this could change things.

to be the best defensive coordinator on Wisconsin's staff in 2016.

Come on, guys. Just as nobody may ever again mention Jim Tomsula without making a fart joke, you can't bring up Justin Wilcox without the gif.

my best guess is that he craps his pants at the beginning of the gif and gets a really weird boner about it. The weird boner causes him to forget that he's watching football and think about how awesome his boner feels

Come on. Can't a guy longingly flick and rub his moist, plump tongue around his soft oral pleasure cavern while seemingly shutter head to toe from a mini orgasm while gently rolling his eyes in the throes of carnal pleasure?

I watch a lot of college football, 5-6 games every week during the season, I read forums and blogs, watch additional college football-themed programs. I'd consider myself a pretty massive fan of the sport.
But at the same time I really don't feel qualified to judge this guy's work. I mean I can look up statistical rankings and all that but that doesn't really tell me the full story or even most of it.
For a good judgment, I'd need to not just watch all the games he coached, I'd need to intimately know the back story. I mean with Michigan I feel relatively qualified to judge at least the HC and coordinators because I watch every game and pick up a lot of the 'buzz' around the team through all the other Michigan media I consume. But I can't say I'd have that level of awareness for any other team.

What sort of reasonable, appropriately humble position is this? DON'T YOU KNOW THIS IS THE INTERNET?
