Moderator Action Sticky 2015

What moderating looks like on the back end.

New season means new sticky, since these get cumbrously long.

What this thread is for: It's an ad-hoc way of tracking what threads and comments get removed. Mods that remove a thread should post the title here with a brief reason as to why the thread is gone.

NOTE: if you leave an irrelevant comment in this thread it will be deleted (see: "cumbrously long").

Before you look for your thread:
1. Was it offensive/political/off topic?
2. Did it link to Drew Sharp, something Mike Valenti said, or Ace Williams?
3. Is there another thread in the last few days on the board that addresses the same topic?

Hall of Stickies Past:
The first, the second, the third. the fourth.

Making excuses for the basketball team gets you the program you deserve

We already have a "Hot seat" thread where this is being well-covered at the moment by a small minority of posters. Also, if you're going to do this, try for thread titles which aren't quite so combative or confrontational. For example, you could easily get a reasoned discussion going if you had titled this "Adding Zest To Meatloaf - A Suggestion" and then introduced it with just a little more tact.

Trouble getting under the 85 limit?

Forgot to come back to this one as it seemed like a poorly conceived thread - and I think the OP has taken a beating long enough at this point.

EDIT: In reply to TSS, I went through and read it again and yeah, we can have it back. I very much doubt the OP even cares about his point now.

Why the P. Manning hate?

You can ask the question, but if you're going to get verbally abusive in your replies to people - whether they are being snarky or not - as the OP did, then you don't get the thread to go with it. Most threads left with such a start basically go to hell if the OP decides to be combative like that, so we'll just skip it this time.

This is not me. This guy is posing to be me and trolling.

Check his posting history. He's posting about politics, which is something Lorne (LSAClassof2000) here knows I never ever ever ever do based on the conversations we have on twitter.

Can't check IP addresses, but you can check email account names and you can tell based on the content of posts. And politics and religion are the two things I converse with no one. Not even family. I've got a few other people close on here that know this.

Making the same idiotic, stereotypical jokes the usual buffooons on here do because they have nothing better to do than talk about someone behind a computer screen that they don't even know.

I also took a clipping of his hair for my collection... Shhhhhh

Link to the comment for context.

He also uses an expletive in front of Michigan. I'd cause bodily harm to myself before I would say or write something like that.

I love Michigan more than anything in my life. As I've once detailed on here on a pretty personal note.

You know I am not you. I thought you might have my back. I'm not trying to "pose" as you. I'd like more explanation on how I've done that. Just because others think I'm you doesn't mean I aspire to be you. I'm not you, you know that, I don't care about you enough to mimick your posting "style" or whatever you call it... The instances you pointed out are proof. How arrogant are you? It kind of sucks posting on here and getting negged because people think I'm you. Every time I post on here, I'm accused of being you.

Post a photo of yourself holding a piece of paper with your username on the paper or embed a tweet of yours on here or something to clear the air. I don't care if you black out your eyes. My word is all I have and I will not let my words be represented in the minds of some by someone else that a small majority of people are saying is me. It's not arrogance, I'm just tired of being harrassed on here

Thank you, that's all I needed. Maybe post the link in that msu thread so it doesn't get removed in here just in case. And your posts saying word for word "I am WD" and whatnot certainly didn't help much. Water under the bridge now.

BTW, those comments mimicking what others think of you, in retrospect, were a mistake. I said them because I thought it'd help both of us, as in if I were really you, wouldn't I deny it? I've tried that, and it doesn't work. I may just have to cancel my account. I swear I'm not trying to mimick you and I want more explanation on how I've done that. Apparently there is some controversy over my name, I don't know why. I named my account Benn because I was lucky enough to meet Jamie Benn at an airport last year. Really nice guy. That is all.

Way OT: Kanye's TLOP snowflakes

We might need to save these for, say, late June when we have precious little to discuss, and from the reaction this particular subject got, maybe not even then. Meanwhile, some music to mod by....

OT: University Of Tennessee Lineman Arrested On Child Sex Charges

Yeah, this one probably won't get turned around in a timely fashion. It started off on the wrong foot, to say the least.

I would like to address this comment from The Oracle though -

Either dump the thread entirely or let people say what they want. I'm not a big fan of censorship. I don't like the sound of "I'm leaving this up, but don't say anything I disapprove of."

Please remember that this is not the forum to proclaim your "freedom of speech" because you don't have it here and claiming that you do is - in my opinion - a misinterpretation of the First Amendment.

I'm sorry, I don't think it's appropriate to do things this way. I've sent an email to the OP and the named poster who responded. If people want to be profiled that's their business and shouldn't play out over the board.

I tried posting my story about 10 minutes of so ago, only to get an "access denied" message.  My "essay" took about an hour to write, re-write and edit, and then POOF!---nothing.

I was pretty much OK with the whole thing, keeping things "vague" enough for myself and my family when and where needed.  Actually had fun putting it together once I got going.

party pooper!  /s

p.s. : Here's my TL;DR version that I ended it with:  3 kids, one grandkid, no regrets other than marital ones, and GO BLUE!

^Account of UMDieHards, i.e. Bobby Kuntz, an attention whore who exists only to annoy the fuck out of anyone who produces legit Michigan content. His latest schtick was pretending to donate to a gofundme then arguing with all the users who caught him out in the obvious b.s. If he pops up again--I am certain he will--ban him again.

Can I please request that my account be banned and my posts removed, if possible? I'll keep following the blog, but I'm going back to lurking and no longer wish to have an account for personal reasons.

Thank you!

I really hate banning long-time contirbutors like that, and typically I will give the veterans of the board wo go astray every chance to fix anything they may have done short of certain scenarios which do warrant auto-bans. In this case, responding to a tragic event - one in which folks had already said they knew victims - with some nonsensical conspiracy bullshit is socially inappropriate even online and pretty damn insensitive to those who may be affected. Sorry, but no, you can't do that. The appropriate course is to bite your tongue and at least act sympathetic, but if you can't do even that, then simply avoid responding. We had someone who could neither act appropriately nor hold back their own beliefs on the matter, needeless to say.

Harbaugh is the king of twitter

Although I am  not the "mom" per se (I do try to fill in when "mom" is not here at home, of course), this one will come down at the OP's request. Well, unless I misinterpreted the statement and "mom" was in fact suppose to be the one to delete this, in which case I apologize and it can go back up until "mom" gets around to it.

If that is the case, don't tell mom I did this.

Jake Rudock

So that didn't go well.

Nebulous title with a post that addresses things nobody really said makes for a bad mix on MGoBlog. Poster has been here long enough to know that.

The "Knife"

*clears throat*

Oh, the shark, babe, has such teeth, dear

And it shows them pearly white

Just a jackknife has old MacHeath, babe

And he keeps it out of sight...

....and yes, this thread posing Jabrill "The Knife" Peppers is now out of sight. The crowd spoke loudly.

Some of the comments in the thread were pure snark gold. It should have remained up for that alone.

Actually, we have a curated MGoHOF on the site .... Why not a curated MGoAccessDenied section? Somewhere to send the "Best of the Worst"?

No Buffet for Bret: NCAA Cancels Bielema"s Lunch Plans

Already covered on the board - it's a shame too as I am sure that whatever buffet chain resides in Bradenton bought extra roast beef and brought in extra staff for this special occasion.

Longtime user absolutely should have known better than to post a worthless, politically pointed rally cry as a DIARY!

Sent to Bolivia. Points back on November 9, i.e. he can't start any threads until after the election.
