I'll be happy if he is. But he's only played extensive minutes in four games. If Drake can hit holes when open or bounce it outside, something I've yet to see Smith or Green do, I'd love it. I'm pulling hard for him to get back out there and prove himself, but I'm in wait and see mode right now. If I don't get my hopes up, these little chance for him to disappoint me.

your apprehension must be due to the question marks regarding Isaac because you should have seen enough of the other backs to know that they aren't really game changers. Smith has a role in short yardage or to burn clock but I don't think he is an every down back. Now it remains to be seen if Drake can return, this is his 2nd big knee injury.

Smith is not an every down or majority of downs back. No threat to bounce outside and very little threat to break off more than 15-20 yards at a time. Tough, determined runner, sure. There are three videos on the Monday Presser: Harbaugh thread posted by Franz Shubert that exemplify Smith's inability to see the space around him. A this point, I'm not so sure he will be the starter by the time MSU comes to town.

Drake is better at finding and hitting holes that are barely there and cutting away from the play design when necessary. That's a big asset with our offense right now. Long term, if the OL starts making holes where they're supposed to, I still like Smith. His proven ability to make YAC would be huge. Big question mark on if the OL can get there this year though.

thing I can say is he looked a HELLUVA lot better than any other back we had last year so regardless of who his play was against, I'm looking forward to his health...our other guys are sloooooooooowwwww.

I'm not the type to assume anything these days, but hopefully we will see some of the depth on Saturday. Would be reassuring to be in control enough to get live action for the backups.

Is Jake's last name name pronounced Rudock like mudock or Rudock like Roodock? The Fox announcers assumed the later but are they correct? Thanks for any enlightenment.

The one catch and run Bunting had was really nice. The one catch and fall over that Williams had, not so much.
I would think it advantageous to line up in a balanced set w/ Butt on one side & Bunting on the other on 2nd or 3rd and short plays. A viable target on either side or run the old "cross country" routes that were run back in the day when Jerame Tuman would cross w/ [ who was the other TE? ] crossing the opposite way.

At this point putting Peppers in for a few carries at RB may be a good idea.
Smith and Green are just wayy too slow

The biggest thing I'd like to see his Hill over AJ Williams.
H-Back: Poggi/Winovich (inj. Shallman)
RTE: Butt/Bunting
BTE: Hill/Williams
*Receiving TE / Blocking TE
Would like to see the same rotation on defense.
Hopefully Canteen can come up and split reps with Perry.
...also would like to see Peppers get snaps on offense, he's just too dynamic. Put him in the slot so he can share reps with Canteen and Perry.
