Enis = Elite Speed

Submitted by jonesie022 on
Have to admit I was skeptical about how big of a recruit the Enis kid would be. He plays inferior competition in his class as far as football competition is concerned. One thing I am not worried about though is the kid's speed. I am a track coach here in Indiana and was just sifting through results and saw the kid just ran :10.53 for 100 meters in his county meet recently. It was automatic timing (no mom holding s stop watch here) so the time is legit. For non-track folks, Denard by comparison was in the low 10.4 range if I am not mistaken. Hope we can land this kid and hope to see him in person on the track/gridiron here soon!

Some more context in the post would have been helpful, but good to know.

He sure loved him some Daisy Duke. Esp when she was wearing Daisy Dukes.

The problem with this comparison, as well as the OP'S comparison with Denard, is that you can't compare acceleration with velocity. Denard was known for his acceleration from 0 to top speed, but a runner with higher top speed and lower acceleration could match his 100 m time. This is why the 40 is used in football. It better captures acceleration, which is more coveted than top end speed. Which does Enis possess? We still don't know...

I did some digging on that time because I was bored and because I didn't believe he was that fast after watching the tape.

That time was posted in the Randolph County Meet.  All 8 runners posted their best times on the season in the sprint.  Most posted their best career time in that sprint.  And the majority posted their best career time by over a quarter of a second in that sprint.

Are we sure those timers were perfectly accurate?

Anyone know what Drake Johnson's 100m time was ( he was pretty elite hurdler but I'm unsure of his actual 100 time and did not see it on initial Google search )
