How will the crowd be for the UM/OSU mens basketball game?

Hopefully a good one because I'll be there as well! It seems there has been considerable empty spots in the upper bowl, but the Maize Rage has been loud and in record numbers.

I'm coming back early for this game. Unfortunately, most freshmen won't be back because the dorms will not be open yet.

think crisler will be 3/4 full? i hate seeing that place so dead - students are doing a great job - nice work !

I think the non-student turnout will be fairly good. The problem is whether or not there will be a good portion of the student section there.

I do not understand the athletic department's scheduling this year. The home OSU game during break? Why? Senior night is during Spring Break. And, going back to football, the Delaware State game during fall break? I'm sure the attendance will be decent, but, I, personally, am a little disappointed with how they scheduled this season.

The basketball schedule is the Big Ten's doing. The same thing with regards to senior night happened last year and we missed home games with Wisconsin and Illinois over Christmas. At least we only have two break games this year.

I guess that I did not realize that. Thanks for clearing it up... I forgot about the games last year!

I managed to score some 3rd row seats for the game. Hopefully the place isn't too quiet without the students.

...and now I've purchased tickets to the game @ Kansas... please dear God, don't let us get blown out.

We just got tickets for the MSU game in january on a tuesday night. I'm hoping the team can improve by then and be respectable. Can't wait for that game.

I will be at that game as well, I am pretty excited. Not looking forward to the round trip drive from GR to A2 on a weeknite, though. I think I may end up taking that Wednesday off and thus not killing myself.

Same drive for me. I was a little skeptical after seeing what day it was on and the time, but it should be fun regardless.

I am counting down the days for this one. We would need a bunch of breaks to fall our way, but this could be the signature B10 win needed to make the tourney.

i have 8 seats in section 59, row 16...is that too close to students for "older" clients i am bringing? didnt know if they may have to stand much or not - personally i like to stand, but who the hell am i
December 11th, 2009 at 10:42 AM ^
In row 16 you will not have to worry about standing. I went to their first home game this year and was row 13 behind the student section and could see comfortably over the student section while sitting (granted I stood for much of it, particularly when Manny was closing in on a triple-double).

Regarding attendance it may be lower than otherwise expected because...
Those of us (students) with season tickets have to separately purchase tickets for all the games that occur during breaks. So, instead of giving students an incentive to stay or come back early, it's giving them one more reason not to.

thats too bad - you guys make it pretty damn entertaining - my kids watch you guys more than the game
December 11th, 2009 at 11:45 AM ^
This is a surprise to me, especially since the University could charge the students for those games by including them in their student package thereby guaranteeing that those seats are sold.
December 11th, 2009 at 1:10 PM ^
Totally agree they should have included these games in the season ticket package. Or maybe they should have given us free attendance to the first 300 (or something) Maize Rage members to show up.
The presence of the students is a great boost to the atmosphere.

does the band play at games played over break like this one...got 8 clients coming with me and i was hoping the atmosphere would be good for this one, but without the students and band, well, we would have to watch the game....j/k
