I like that Rivals now tells us the specific assistant coach doing the recruiting. Completely superfluous information.

On second thought, now that we now that Tony Alford and Andre Powell are recruiting the kid, now it's all crystal clear where he's going to school.

This could be a very positive announcement tomorrow. Part of Tim Sullivan's response:

"Definitely feeling Michigan for Washington more than I had in the recent past, but I still am not sure just how he would fit into the overall plan of the class (meaning - my opinion, not Michigan's - that I don't think he's worth taking a third back)."

Sometimes you have to consider the timing of the picks as well. Usually, a trend in picks that is very recent is more likely to be correct than picks that were made months prior. I mean if Michigan picked up 5 picks (for the sake of argument) in the past week, and all of Syracuses picks are from December/January, there's probably more foundation in those Michigan picks. A lot can happen in those few months. So sometimes you have to dig a little deeper than the percentage of picks.

He'd be our 3rd 2016 back after a year where we don't lose any. Our 2016 backfield would be: Green (SR), Smith (SR), Johnson (SR). Isaac (JR) Higdon (SO/FR) Falcon (FR), Davis (FR), and Washington (FR) You could also throw in Shallman (SR) assuming he doesn't move to FB or H-Back. That's 8 (9 if you count Shallman) in addition to currently having 6 scholarship QB's on the docket for 2016 (assuming we take only Peters this year). So 14-15 scholarships out of 85 total are expected to be spent on the QB/RB position. That leaves just 70 scholarships to dole out between 20 other starting positions, their backups/3rd string, and special teams. That 70 includes positions like WR where you usually have 6-8 scholarship players. OL where you usually have 10-15 on scholarship, and the DL where you want at least 8 scholarships. You also have to figure into the fact that Harbaugh loves his TEs. So at some point, with so many QB/RB scholarships out there, we figure to run into some depth issues at other positions. Assuming there isn't any attrition anyway. I would have liked to take just two this class, and pick up one (possibly two) in the 2017 class. That'd give us 7-8 (depending on where you consider Shallman) for 2016, and then in 2017 we would have 5 scholarship backs. Which is a much more reasonable and manageable number, by which point, the classes would be a bit more balanced in terms of graduation year. Again, all barring attrition. But those are a lot of scholarships to be allocated to the QB/RB position.

I'm pretty sure Lloyd once took six RBs in one class.  BJ Askew class I think.

Edit: looks like it was five RBs

Askew

Cummings: switched to WR

Drake: switched to S

Shaw: switched to S

Beard: left team

supposedly only has interest in FL, AL, NC, and TCU among southern schools... no interest in South Carolina, Georgia, FSU, LSU, Ole MIss, MSU... and why no offer from Clemson? If Wheatley pulls this off, it'll be a huge coup for us. I'm not buckling up just yet... I'll be surprised if he doesn't put on an Alabama hat.
