What was Zetterberg thinking on that goal?  I get he was trying to block a shot, but he ended up just giving away a clear path to the net.

I think playoff hockey is the most intense because you literally can lose the game in any second.  No other sport is like that - baseball it depends what half of the inning, and there is 20 seconds between every pitch.  Football 30 seconds between each play.  Basketball has a clock in OT not sudden death.  Only in hockey do you combine sudden death with the ability to end a game within seconds at any friggin moment (a sport you can get from 1 side of the ice to the other in 3 seconds).  You can't turn away for a second other than commercial.

Boy that game was one the Red Wings were on the other side for, for years in the playoffs in the 90s and 00s.  Outshoot some team 47-18, goalie stands on head, lose 2-1.  Nice to be on the other side... but uhh, yeah we need to play a bit better next game to try to shift the possession a bit more on our side.

I didnt want to comment and jinx things but I didnt have a TV feed here in Ohio so I "watched" the game toggling back and forth between ESPN gamecast (which is just about useless in Hockey it's so behind the action) and you guys.

You think YOU were nervous - try following the game with  "woo", "MY MAN" "bullshit call" and "fuckity, fuck, fuck" as your play by play.

But we won right?  Prolly have to do this again so as to not screw up the karma.

Edit: Was going to say the same thing Alum96.  I cannot even count how many games in the 90s where the Wings would massively outplay, outshoot, outeverything but outscore the other team and lose - usually at home.  I didnt see it obviously but 46-14 speaks for itslef that's for sure.

no TV, but the box score says we got outshot 46-14, but we won 3-2.  they were 0-for-7 on PP, while the wings were 1-3.  well if you are t-bay fan you are scratching your eyeballs out right now.  but remember, the wings have lost loads of play off games like this over the years when we played the part of the lightning.

T-bay fan...the singular is correct. Was listening to the Tampa feed on XM...sounded Ike they turned down the crowd mics after Sacha's first goal so they wouldn't broadcast the Wings fans noise in their house.

Mrazek stood on his head. Bishop was really average, as that Glendening goal shouldn't happen, and a lot of those shots for Tampa happened from range and Mrazek managed where the puck went well and limited rebounds. An ugly win, but a win. When you are the underdog a split on the road at the very least is huge for your chances.
