The post I replied to said that they weren't even NBA-ers, and Towns wasn't going to be a star. WCS has elite defense. If you don't see that, I don't know what games you're watching. Rare is the big who can defend the interior, but also stay in front of guards when they switch on the P&R. Will he be a star? Probably not, although DeAndre Jordan is showing the heights an offensively limited but athletic center can reach, and WCS hits free throws at twice the rate.

Webber's Pimp

I heard the interview in its entirety. CWebb came off a total player hater. Definitely not the most eloquent delivery either. For a player who never won a thing in either college or the pros he definitely needs to tone down his approach. Humility is a virtue young brother...

That being said I agree that WCS lacks offensive skills to be a star at the  next level. But he may be able to make significant contributions as a rebounder, shot blocker, and garbage finisher. A 10 and 10 guy is not beyong possibility. He's a poor man's Jochim Noah. I don't think he'll be a star but he could be a contributing piece on any NBA roster...

But if you're not, I don't think you saw Webber play in the NBA, or if you did it wasn't until after he blew out his knee and got old at the same time. He was playing at a borderline Hall of Fame level from about 1997-2003, and averaged 20/10 for his career. Heck, if the Kings hadn't been robbed by the refs in the 2002 Conference Finals, they probably win the title that year, and Webber gets the ring he needs to be an actual Hall of Famer. He won the Rookie of the Year, and was All-NBA for 5 years in a row. He wasn't Michael Jordan, but he was a legitimately great player. If that's underachieving, what was overachieving?

Webber stated the obvious - WCS has regressed from the field all three years. We have no evidence he is conditioned to play 40 minutes in a game. He was injured last year with a lower body injury (something that nags NBA bigs). He's a 7 footer that can defend - nice to have for situational basketball.

But I don't think LeBron James, Kevin Love, Greg Monroe, Kevin Durant, etc. etc. are really shaking in their sneakers.
