Jedd Fisch sees no separation among QB candidates

I apolgize for the Freep link, but searched elsewhere and couldn't find this from another source. Video interview included from today's practice.
Judging by the amount of responses in the "What do you drive?" thread, this board is thirsting for some football news.
Well, sure you're not a coach...but you also don't want to me some idiot know it all spewing his opinion as fact like a few others like to do, have done, will continue to do.
So I fixed it for you.
You're welcome.

I'd be willing to take a chance on Morris being the starter. Mainly for the reasons that he has the most experience (*although still little) and as Fisch referenced, seems the most comfortable. And like you mention, I think they will be willing to give him a chance and if he continues throwing INTs they won't be afraid to try someone else.

Shane has very good QB-feet too If he could just learn some Tate-like accuracy.
Unfortunately, given his arm strength and good QB-mobility, accuracy has been the part of his game he's never had to rely on and develop.
like D Brown v M Taylor; right after Harbaugh left

Harbaugh is a QB master. He will have someone ready to go and performing at least at a competent level come September.

Shane Morris by the end of Spring...
I know I'm going to just get used to this...because there isn't a better way to breed competition than to call everyone even. Also, right now, everyone is probably even
No coach is just going to come in during a spring competition and annoint a starter after 3-4 practices. That's silly. May as well name a RB starter, WR starters, DT starters, and LB starters as well if you're going to do that.
As much as we want, we all knew this was going to happen. We probably won't even have a starter by the spring game. But we'll trot out a couple games on that day to start the game. Odds are Morris will be one guy just based off experience and the fact that he's the returning leader in the clubhouse, so that leave Speight and Malzone to battle it out for the other team. Regardless, it won't mean a damn thing in my eyes.
I'm not discounting Gentry either. If these guys haven't progressed, in my eyes, Gentry is right there with them. I don't think it'll happen come fall, but right now? There is no one starter worthy. Let's not confuse this with a true QB competition 3 hours south in Columbus.
At this point who gives a shit about a starter, we just need at least 2 of these guys to get BETTER. Improvement and learning the offense/defense is far more imporrtant this spring. Figure out the starters over the summer and going into fall camp. At this point it's just about developing guys so they can be in that discussion. And at the moment, it looks like that number is 0 for the QB position.
Our goal this spring shouldn't necessarily be to find a starter, it should be to get that number to 2. Then the competition starts.
I think at this point I'd be happy as a clam to have them come out to the spring game and have people more knowledgeable than I say 'Wow, Speight really seems to have improved mechanics.' and 'Shane's decision making has really improved'. Tangible stuff that tells me that the details are being dealt with, and that our team can come out looking polished and disciplined by the middle of the season.
Intangibles like that are sometimes more important than shear arm strength etc.
Bottom line these kids will make mistakes but who can forget the mistakes and move on to the the next play to make a better play? That will help everyone move on from the mistake.
Gardner seemed to hold on to mistakes a bit and would then force the issue which compounds the situation. This leads to more mistakes.
Malzone will be the starter if not in game 1, by the halfway point this season.
Unless we get a transfer who comes in ready to go.

I am impressed with Nacho man's ability to amass points in one day. Also terrified.
here at mgoblog. we ought to have a competition, 'name that banhammered blogger who reincarnated as person X'

he should know not to post freep links...
I agree. I've been here a few months already and I am not quite that sophisticated yet:
Just curious on what your opinions are if they decided to start the season w/a 2 qb system? If one guy hasnt separated himself from the pack, this might be an alternative. I dont want to see it happen, but that might be the only way to find out who the best qb for Michigan is going to be.
Of course it is March and there is a long way to go. I believe someone will emerge, but just want to see how some of you would feel if that were to happen.

Yes, it will be the week of the Ohio State game and Harbaugh will say that nothing is guaranteed, it's still an ongoing competition every day to be the starting QB.
