I have a feeling we also will know who the starting QB is about 5 minutes before the game

I totally forgot about that Lloyd commercial. Hilarious.

Who knew that Lloyd could act? Saban looks like a middle schooler in his first play.

That Orange Bowl was epic. The highlight of my time at Michigan, football-wise (my freshman year was the year after the national title). Brady to Terrell was an incredible combination. I love the emotion in those interviews.

According to wikipedia, he's currently a high school athletic director in Florida.

"I visited Florida State, it was warm and sunny. I visited UCLA, it was warm and sunny. I visited Michigan, it was 10 degrees."
But he still came here. He's an inspiration.

According to this 2010 piece from the M Zone (which includes an AWESOME Daily photo of the takedown), the Michigan letterman who made the tackle was a U-M diver. We need to find this man and saint him.

I was at that game as a kid, and that happened right in front of me. I remember it well.
It also happened 2 years earlier, in 81 when some student totally blindsided Brutus from behind and caused his little Nut Head to pop off....it was actually a more vicious hit than this one. I was at that game too.

Even then, Brady knew that interviews were not just about him, and he really was already the very composed presence. His Michigan time really did have a big impact on him - he met the challenge of competing and performance and was made better for it. Compare this with some of the recent interviews he has done before the national press (they are everywhere after and before the super bowl) and it is quite striking.

The wildest part of it is at the very, very end. Brutus starts hitting him with his flag pole! How did I not hear about this before?

I was at the game and I still don't remember it.
I do remember the guy in the gorilla suit who climbed on the North end zone goal posts while the game still was not over, and was pelted by the fans until he got down.
Anybody else remember him?

a fine effort to take down that big-headed turd.

Wasn't there also an incident in 1975 or so when a student messed with dotting the I? I can't remember off the top of my head, but I remember tracking down the Michigan Daily microfilm when I was in school. There was a sign of some sort.

but wasn't it micro-fiche, the really, really small fish you could hardly find worms small enough to catch...?

Gorgeous open field tackle. None of this lazy going for the shoulders and bouncing off stuff.

The MZone link says it was Michigan Diver and Olympic Silver Medalist Bruce Kimball.
I'm not sure which accomplishment did more for the good of his country . . . winning an Olympic medal, or face-planting Brutus Buckeye during The Game.

At the time and have never seen this before. I can't tell you how great this is, if only his buddies had kicked the crap out of Brutus would it have been better.
