I couldn't help but imagine Bo Schembechler dealing with some of these modern, self-absorbed high school stars. There is no better place on the planet for Iman Marshall than USC.

Personally, glad he went to USC. I just watched the Harbaugh presser, and it seems to me that Marshall would not work well in A2.
The University of Michigan sends more people to med school than any other school in the country!

He made a 33-second movie trailer. That tips off where he's going to go, or at least where he's not going to go—not LSU, FSU, ND, or UM.
He sees himself as a video or movie producer. Nothing wrong with that, and he's chosen the right school for that.

Agreed 100%. He's certainly looking at the entertainment business. UCLA is a good school with strong programs in music, theater, film production, writing, etc.

but Maizenbrew reported that Van Jefferson chose Ole Miss.
So I believe we're done.

so you, I and the mgoboard community spend hour after hour tracking the college choices of high schoolers, and your suggesting that it is an 18 year old who has lost perspective. Give me a break.

I've gotta believe that a kid who announces via music video will be happier in LA. Seems like his mind may be on more than football. Which is fine--but the music biz is in LA, not Ann Arbor.

comparing that to LA is pretty ridiculous. Just because a few artists happen to be from Detroit doesn't change the fact that LA is pretty much the center of the universe when it comes to the entertainment world.

I agree with the guys on 97.1 this afternoon. How any decent parent with an ounce of common sense can let their kid produce a rap video announcing which school he's going to? This kind of crap is not what we should want here. Sure, we should go after top talent. But character matters.

Music and movie production are hobbies of his; in which case picking USC is a good decision for him. You can be artistic and and a great athlete at the same time. We create the culture that thrusts young men into the limelight in the teenage years and then act surprised and are revolted that some of them actually enjoy it.
You haven't the first real idea as to the quality of this guys character other than he didn't pick us and he did it in a flashier way than most other kids who aren't as creative.

I don't see any issue with it.
Jabrill Peppers wants to make music...he rapped his committment, didn't see anything wrong with that.
If he wanted to be a painter and he painted his pledge, go for it.
If he wanted to be a school teacher and went back to his elementary school to have a group of 3rd graders scream his announcement, awesome.
We get waaay to bent out of shape about this stuff. Bo this, "if I was his parent" that.
Bo didn't Coach in 2015, so you have no idea what Bo would do. Bo would have to deal with Twitter and this new kind of kid just like everyone else does. And if he didn't he wouldn't be nearly as successful as he was when "times were different."
Now if the announcement is in poor taste, which it may be...I'm not going to waste my time watching. THEN, I understand the complaining. Just like the "DAT BULL" video. But if it's more of the Peppers variety (who also made music videos in high school), then whatever.
