Said Higdon signing was the final tipping point. That's straight from the horses mouth. Coaches dropped the ball on this one.

1. Weber chose OSU because he is afraid to compete with Higdon even though OSU has a markedly more daunting group of running backs?
2. Yet, Weber isn't good enough to play at OSU, but has been consider a stud here until today?
Alot of butt-hurting going on.

Its not the coaches fault. Weber had all the time in the world to sign with Mich. If he was truly going to go blue when he woke up, all he needed to do was call Harbaugh and let him know and reserve his spot. Then Harbaugh can tell Higdon whats up and everyone goes their own way. I think he was just looking for a reason to not go blue. He has said in an article that he likes OSU b/c they win. Its more of a mind over heart reasoning.

I would rather go out and get a player rather than have the coaches sit on their hands waiting on this divatized recruitment only to come up empty handed.
Also, he said the tipping point was not another running back. It was Ohio State winning games.

and if they hadn't pursued Higdon and Weber had still gone with OSU you'd be the guy saying that they dropped the ball by putting all of their eggs in one basket.

I just don't understand what a life long M fan means to some people. I live in Dayton, Ohio. If I had the opportunity to play for Michigan, there would be no decision. Also, he lived in Michigan his whole life and had the opportunity to not only be coached by Jim Harbaugh but also Tyronne Wheatley. This makes no sense to me. I don't care how good OSU is. Fandom makes no sense to me.

Said Higdon played into his decision. Damn! If Higdon would have signed in the afternoon we would have gotten both.

Weber looks like a good player. But frankly if he's scared of a little competition, he doesn't really sound like a good fit for Harbaugh. This probably is the best move for both him and Michigan.
February 4th, 2015 at 11:09 AM ^
Seriously, don't understand. He said he thought he was the only back that Michigan was going to go after in 2015. So when Higdon signed he decided OSU. If that was the case, wouldn't you take the higher rated in state kid?

leads me to believe he'd favor a kid afraid of competition for a position.

Well Higdon should be running with a chip on his shoulder for 4 years.

Doesn't want a little competition at his position, in his class? As if Urbz isn't going to recruit 3 RB's next year to replenish.
What's up with Higdon? Mgoblue.com had him on the list, then they took him off. Maybe his LOI had a problem?

It would have been nice but running back is a strength for the next couple of years. We have 4 and 5 star backs that actually have played college football !! We will pick up great high school backs in the near future that WANT to come to MICHIGAN .

It was up on mgoblue.com for a minute and then they just deleted it.
Hope nothing's wrong. I am happy to have a RB from Florida on our roster, if you go to our current roster page, we are just loaded with Michigan and Midwest guys, and many of them are just not working out. It is time to bring in more guys from other parts of the country, I like it that we are bringing in at least 2 guys from Florida, a guy from NMexico and a guy from Alalbama. Go Blue!

how the process below works. Because OSU is looking to sign 27 recruits in this class. Are they back dating early enroll kids or are they going to have to go through this process?
In the Big Ten, coaches are allowed to sign up to 28 players per year, but any time they sign more than 25 players they are required to petition the Big Ten Conference office for permission to accept the additional three letters of intent. The Big Ten office will review the roster and the school has to prove that there is room for all 28 players without anyone being pushed out.

Urban anticipates attrition. He could be looking at medical attrition, transfers, a 5th year who will graduate and won't stay on, etc.

I read somewhere that early enrollees do not count towards the 25/28 max. They have like four ee's so they would still be under the 25 limit. - I don't know this to be a fact but that that's what they are saying on 11W.
Their issue is the 85 scholarship limit. When the osu insider/analyst was questioned about it he said they will make it work. He said it's big boy football with urbz - implying that if they have to grey shirt or encourage a transfer they will.
I guess winning a nc comes with consequences. I'm not sure I would want UM to be the kind of place that takes away someone's scholarhsip even if it means we will contend for a national title.
