JH on rumors about Michigan contact w/ 49ers: "What will happen will happen, what won't happen won't happen."

...that was what he said when the reported pressed him. Initially, he gave his stock answer ("I haven't participated in any of that speculation and I won't start now."), but he also said, "I would go back to Jay Glazer and ask him about his source" or something to that effect.

Move along, move along. I watched the entire q&a session and nothing has changed except confirmation there is a serious rift between Harbaugh and the Yorks which continues and is not quieted.

Although I do agree that the statement is devoid of meaning by design, I do also agree that insane isn't bad. Actually, at this point, it's reasonably normal around here as the place officially started to go around the bend sometime during the 2nd half of the Rutgers game by my figuring. We can't even see the bend in the rear view mirror at this point.

I think this is somewhat significant, as it's a departure from his "I only talk about the job I have.." line, which FWIW, is what he said in previous years regarding Texas and USC jobs that were vacant at the time.

I'm grateful there's another event happening in the world this week to take my mind off this coaching search. Well okay, not COMPLETELY off. I just hope my family doesn't notice me checking my iPhone more often than usual.

It will look like it's happening all the way to December 29, at which point Harbaugh schedules a press conference. All the insiders say it's happening and Brian and Sam Webb finally cave and announce that it is. Two hours before the press conference some no name NFL guy tweets that a Godfather offer has been made from the Falcons or some other random NFL team. The press conference is cancelled half an hour before. The next morning it is announced JH is staying in the NFL. Mgoblog and the city of Ann Arbor erupt in flames.
