This isn't just a headscratching loss. This is gonna be a factor in March. This will be the worst loss of any NCAA tourney competent team. How can a team have such a lapse in mental readiness, especially a Beilein team...

Did Spike n co go too hard at Skeeps last night? What's the deal lol.

ugh.

Maybe it's not on the coaching staff but the players, many of whom weren't even on the team for those games.  This is an extremely young team.  Our freshmen are not just getting used to being college players but college students, too.  They've had to travel a lot and now they're about to take exams for the fall term, which is pretty nerve-wracking.   Focus on today's game may have gotten lost in the shuffle.

Not too worried about this game - if a team hits 65% 3 pts they deserve to win.

More worried about massive minutes for Caris Irvin and Walton.  38-39 minutes again today vs a lesser team.  This is going to catch up to them in February and March.

Only 8 people played today and that is with 30 seconds from Dawkins so really 7 players.  Cant go all year with a 7-8 player rotation.

I know Irvin was down today but continue to have concerns with Kam just in general.

just have to trust the staff can keep him progressing for.

A lot to like there, but the things he needs to work on are also obvious.

I think this loss puts a chip on this team's shoulder, and that's not the worst thing in the world.

One thing I don't understand is everyone comparing this to the Charlotte loss. That was frustrating but not nearly as embarrassing. This one will haunt us in March. Could be the difference in making the tournament.

There are plenty of reasons why this team will be fine and this loss isn't the end of the world. The 1989 team losing to a D-II school isn't one of them.

This is a terrible, terrible loss. Doesn't even compare to Charlotte last year. Michigan does not have the depth or talent of last years team. This is what happens when Beilein is not able to close on elite recruits. Great coaching can only take you so far. The talent just isn't there.

are some of you pessimists. This loss will mean nothing if Michigan progresses through the season. It will be nothing more than an early season stumble by a young team against a team hitting NBA 3s even when Michigan was somewhat effective defensively. On the flip side Beilein will turn this pain to dividends.

From CBS Sports:

"They move to 6-2, with their only good result of the season coming over Syracuse in a close home win.

That loss dropped them from 20th to 36th in KenPom, which is possibly the largest single game drop I've ever seen for a team inside the top 50.

With only that Syracuse win to point to, this could turn into a disastrous non-conference slate for the Wolverines. The Orange have looked inconsistent, and it's questionable whether or not it's a tournament team. Michigan still has a chance to pick up a win over Arizona, but does anyone see that happening after watching they way they defended today? SMU also remains, but the Mustangs may have Markus Kennedy back for that game, making it a tough one for the Wolverines inside.

But the bigger key for this team is now figuring out its defense. If that happens, the Wolverines could still be the second-best team in the Big Ten. But without it, they're going to have some serious problems in conference play."
