UPDATE: As announced on MGoBlue:

CSG President Bobby Dishell made a presentation to the Regents regarding the findings from a CSG survey about the student experience at football games and the student body's relationship with the athletic department. He outlined the following agreements between Michigan Athletics and CSG that will take effect immediately:

  • Athletics will work to design a new plan for next season that will include a significant price decrease for football student season tickets. Athletics will announce student season-ticket prices for the 2015 football season next week.
  • Rental fees for athletic facilities will be eliminated for student groups with a charitable focus.
  • The department has committed to work with the Big Ten to create a blackout weekend where Crisler Center will be available for MUSIC Matters in 2016.
  • Monthly meetings with students will be held with Athletic Director Dave Brandon to address topics relating to all 31 teams and Michigan Athletics.
  • Dishell and Brandon will have regular standing meetings.
  • The athletic department will create a student advisory board comprised of student-athletes, non-athletes, season-ticket holders and non-ticket holders.

This @HailtoMichigan guy makes good points, I wish I retained my ability to formulate my own opinions before being brainwashed by all of you guys. The jump in prices between my freshman and sophomore seasons was obviously forced by the mgoblog faithful to start this witch hunt, why cant we all just be more informed - don't you see Brian's been planning this from the start and using us as his pawns

and its relationship with the student body.

Sadly some of the reactions to these changes lead me to believe that some are more interested in a politically motivated witch hunt than seeing tangible benefits for the student population.

Politically motivated - wtf are you talking about? I don't remember a big backlash against Brandon when he was initially hired as the AD. It wasn't until he turned the whole thing into a money-gouging circus that people got pissed off. In addition, these tangible benefits you speak of are simply the reversal of DB's previous decisions that fucked the students in the first place!

While the regular alums are going to get screwed by higher prices, more commercialization, and alumni being marginalized based upon their giving ability.

Too little too late. Fire Brandon

I love how Dave says he's been working with the CSG for the past...year.
Well done, Dave....wait, hold on a sec...when did you start the job?

Well, I see quite a few who want to feel good about this and want us to appreciate it. Screw that. If he would have come out two weeks back and apologized and set it right, he would have a little bit of credibility. Instead, he talked about his feelings and how hurt he was. This does not show anything. It just looks like he is covering his butt. It is hard to change who you are. He feels cornered and he is trying to wiggle out of it, but not taking responsibility. I do wish him well. He is still our Alumni. Good luck somewhere else DB.

This is good for the students. HOWEVA, as long as DB is around the students will just be paying less money to see bad football. The bye week seemed like a perfect time to fire DB. The longer nothing happens the more I fear that DB will somehow hang on.

This is what happens when you're against a person and not their position on issues.  For a significant portion of the fan base there is nothing DB can do to win them back, no matter how much he capitulates to them, no matter the circumstances.  They're against the person and have lost sight of what they seek to achieve.

For me, I don't fucking care if DB is the athletic director as long as the fans get what they want.

...and I'd use some if I ever became an AD.

But at this point he's better off just shutting up and implementing these things in the shadows. Certainly refer to them if asked.

But don't gloat and put out a press release or statement about it.

If I was AD, the first thing I would do is fire the ENTIRE PR staff. Every single person.

They've been AWFUL with Hoke and Brandon, AWFUL.

They have nothing to work with, both guys are idiots...but that's what you get paid to do. You make a living off of public relations and image and you're failing over and over and over and OVER.

It's not that hard. Brady - Stop being so combative right now, we need you to be friendly. Dave - Shut the fuck up until I say you can speak in public again. If you're asked a question, bring it to me and we'll work on a response together. Don't dodge the public, but don't seek it either.

Now GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY OFFICE!

respectful enough, particularly given the very loud and personal insults, on the internet often in Caps like so many of your posts, that twist Hoke's very name, and refer to him as 'idiot' like you do. Show some respect for Hoke please. I don't want him to come back either, but treat him with some dignity.  Neither man is an idiot; both are simply not performing to expectations and standards.

Speaking as if DB is already out the door is dangerous from a possible-future-disappointment perspective. It's totally possible that this ass-covering will work. As many others have pointed out, he's got backing from at least the school's highest-profile donor, and probably a bunch of other rich assholes besides. And shake-ups suck for bureaucracies. The Regents may well decide to ride out the storm, force him to be a bit nicer, and then go about their business.

I hope not, just saying maybe let's not get our hopes up too high.
