Michigan Hockey unveils yet another new jersey
The uniform carousel continues. A new home white jersey.
To go along with the new road and third jerseys
2010-11 - 2013-14 uniforms
I really do like the new whites. I hope they stick with them for a long time and just leave things alone for awhile.

Why are the blue road and "maize" third sweaters rocking a "Reebok" emblem? Does the Adidas contract not extend to hockey?
August 27th, 2014 at 6:08 PM ^
adidas owns Reebok.

That's fine (I've seen them share space at outlet malls, so I was vaguely aware of that ownership structure). I'm surprised, though, that Michigan would allow them the latitude to change brands for hockey as a contractual matter. I'm not saying you're wrong - it's just surprising to me. If you're right, I suppose we could see Maxfli, Taylormade or Salomon on various uniforms. I doubt their other sponsorship partners would allow such flexibility.
In any event, thanks as always for your attention to these things.

If you look at some photos, Michigan has had Reebok since 2011-12 in Hockey.
We now have a minnesota style uniform set. Ms on each color jersey.

Reebok has the NHL uniform deal, and while I realize it's the jersey we're talking about you already see CCM/Reebok branded gear on Michigan players just like you see Bauer gear used by Nike schools like MSU and OSU (although it looks like all their uniforms are Nike branded).
Notre Dame wears Reebok uniforms; I can't think of another huge AD with an Adidas deal and a big hockey program.

I see that some of the prior sweaters are branded Adidas, including the awesome mutant Wolverine version. So it all seems inconsistent, but I'm hardly a marketing expert. I do recognize that Reebok is a "name" in hockey, as you note.
A note, though. I'm guessing that with the new UA agreement we won't be seeing Reebok on future NDU hockey sweaters for a while.

Great point about ND though, they're going to have to sign a deal with someone for a lot of their non-apparel equipment. Can't imagine wanting to be the test dummy for a UA hockey helmet or skates or having to wear their shoes if I'm a XC runner.

One, if you want Michigan to be known as an "Adidas School" it makes sense to have the branding consistent across all sports, especially the major ones. Two, if you look at many of the other sweaters that the OP pictures from recent years, some are branded as "Adidas". Three, apart from hockey and maybe a few minor sports, Adidas has much more panache than Reebok. Four, "Jordan" is widely known to be a Nike sub-brand (i.e., it's not a separate entity, it's just a type of Nike, it has no history apart from Nike, and it usually has a Nike swoosh on it somewhere, and everyone tuned into these things immediately knows that Jordan (and Tiger Woods's TW) are Nike products).
Can you now forgive me for being surprised?

I thought you MDen salespeople were sworn to secrecy on that kind of information ( you know, trade secrets?).
Seriously, though, that white home uniform is a thing of beauty. If Michigan Hockey this coming season looks as good as the uniforms they wear, we're in for a great season!

Reebok was a known commodity in hockey circles and they keep using that label for a lot of equipment.

The 2010 classic no block M home is such an amazing jersey. I have a #9 in it.
But this was always inevitable branding.
August 27th, 2014 at 6:37 PM ^
Agreed. I have the same one also with #9. Great gift from the wife.

I can't recall which year that was (I believe it's the year we miraculously won the CCHA tournament) but that was a solid collection of jerseys. I still love the maize jerseys there.

Why, you got homework 814?

Addressed this yesterday.

I like the one's with just "MICHIGAN" across the jersey more but these are solid.
August 27th, 2014 at 7:15 PM ^
just fine. the other two are dog meat.
back in the day (1980-84), we only had two jerseys to wear at michigan, and none of this new-fangled fad-chasing nonsense.
and yes, please get off my lawn...

Very nice. I'm not sad to see the GLI jerseys go. I wasn't a big fan of those.
I'm still waiting for these to make an appearance though.

Logged in just to upvote this. Love that sweater.

...let's keep them awhile!

I like the block M, and the continued use of the vintage striping. We'll see how I like it in a year.
Which is to say that I hope they keep these uniforms consistent for awhile. Longer than a year. I have typically liked Michigan's various hockey uniforms, but some of the recent ones have left me unenthusiastic. I think it is partly an issue of design and fabric (the dazzle is gone), but at least partly because they change constantly.
It's not that I'm angry, or even opposed to the idea. I'm not mad at Brandon.
I'm just indifferent. And I'm a guy who loves uniforms, loves Michigan uniforms, and loves Michigan hockey. And these... are ok.
That can't be good.

This team will only look good to me if they start winning 25+ games again with players performing to their abilities.
Just win.
