Terry Richardson on 2014 Defense
Terry Richardson had some interesting things to say when speaking with GBW about the difference between this year and last year:
On Defensive scheme:
“We have a new scheme and a lot of in your face coverage"... “Last year we were a little bit conservative," he said. "We have talent... let’s use it. You put your best against our best and let’s ride out -- lets go get it. That is the mindset that our coaches have instilled in us for this season
On Roy Manning:
“This is his first year coaching corner, so we were a little nervous about him, but he is bringing it to us. Coach Manning is keeping us on top of our game. We are working hard. He is a trash talker, he doesn’t play around when it comes to teaching us. He told us I will take a pass interference call as long as you are aggressive. We like that.
On Team Chemistry:
“I will be honest with you... I have never felt that we were a complete team," Richardson admitted. "I felt like we were a team of solos. But this year it is not that way. The simple fact is we are tired of losing. Guys want to play and guys want to win, so we all came together. If you are a starter you are helping out the guy behind you -- not for him to take your spot, but because you really want him to succeed.

He was a 1st round NFL drafted player. Give it a rest. The kid was good. What good corner doesn't use their hands to grab a little bit? Have you ever watched revis, sherman? They grab, pull, and tug as much as they can get away with.

Cro magnon...better?
To be honest, I'm not sure if they hunted wooly mammoths either, but perhaps you could fact check me? Double check the 65,000 years for me as well. I was just riffing off the top of my head and didn't consult google.
You've got 2162 MGoPoints and you are just noticing that this place has the spelling police?

I like the comments from Terry Richardson too. They addressed some issues that many of us have been concerned about, but there’s no reason to get overly excited about his words. Simply because most players say positive things and talk about improving in certain areas at the start of every season, no matter the sport.
I know everyone here isn’t a Detroit Lions’ fan, but they’re world champions many times counting, when it comes to players talking at the start of a season about how they’ve finally figured things out and will improve. Every year they have us believing they're going to turn the corner. It’s a part of sports. A player is suppose to stay positive and talk about improvements.
They are finally now sick of losing? The seniors on last year's team were freshmen when we dropped our last three games by a combined total score of 137-49. Lewan, Schofield, both Gordons, and Gallon were all on the sidelines in 2009, when we went an abysmal 1-7 in Big Ten play. The guys who were fans before they joined the team probably watched us lose to Appalachian State. From '08 through '12 this program lost 27 games. Why did we need to lose another six games to be sick of losing? Losing 10 out of 12 to OSU wasn't enough, but losing 11 out of 13 to OSU is? This is why I'm not getting too emotionally invested in the whole "team chemistry is better this year" thing. Maybe it's true and we really will be better this year, but it means that we probably have some other cultural and/or leadership issues that won't be going away soon.
Actually 29 games from '08 through '12.
brings his swagger to the next level. otherwise, all is lost
