MGOBLOG sends another to the recruiting big leagues!
Looks like Brandon Brown is going to Rivals to work as a writer. Congrats Brandon!

a warrior poet
Good for him but MGoBlog should be a desitnation job. Can we do anything to stop this exodus or is it just the nature of the (internet) beast?

Pay the man.
I'm pretty sure. Had a talk with a writer for another mag, and yes an MGoBlog alum, and that's what he said. Brian may not need to pay top dollar because the site -- and it's combination of great writing, loyal fans and massive base -- creates coveted slots for people moving up. Supply and demand.

I'm pretty sure MGoBlog is the biggest single-team oriented site (EDSBS would be bigger but isn't really centered on Florida). I think that goes for college and pro sports
Brian goes by the moneyball aproach?
I nominate this man to take Brandon's spot.
I think we can all agree that ThadMattasagoblin's recruiting predictions are second to none.
I'm not sure 'second to none' means what you think it means.
tweak!
I could be wrong, but I believe he works/writes for The D Zone now.

Congratulations to Brandon...
I love MGoBlog.
Pay your dues here and it pays off in the long run. There will be another TomVH, Aquaman, Brandon. Ok, maybe not another TomVH, but you get the point,
we need THE TomVH!
C'mon, Brian, GO FOR IT!
I'd be willing to pay to make this happen.
Best of luck, my friend.
Regards,
The MGoBlog community
Damn it. I remember when everyone here was so skeptical of "Coach Brown" until he had a talk with Brian. BB became one of my favorites here. Good luck, hombre. We'll miss you.
I remain skeptical.

Me too Timmaay. It's wonderful for him (I guess) but he generally made me feel somewhat uncomfortable with his style and methods despite fearless leader's fierce public support.
I always viewed him as sort of the "odd man out" when compared to the rest of the team Brian's assembled.

I'll admit to not following Brandon's posts very closely, but I'd agree that both the content and style of his writing seemed quite a bit different than those of Brian/Ace/Seth. This is obviously very subjective, but I just don't care much at all about predictions about where a guy might end up committing in 6 months. Which is not to say that I don't care about recruiting -- I love reading scouting reports, seeing the strengths and weaknesses of the guys who are coming here or going elsewhere. But when it comes to psychoanalyzing tweets or terse phone interviews with16yo kids who would rather be doing something else, I'll pass.
Aside from my (again, very subjective) disinterest in the content of recruiting speculations, I don't think that they lend themselves to the sort of prose that makes this site really extraordinary. It's that prose that I think is really indispensible to this site, and I'm more than OK seeing the task of bugging teenagers take a back seat to it.
I don't think it has anything to do with his writing style, or lack of prose. TVH didn't have any special way with words, and didn't write any type of prose. BB is just a weird guy(maybe would have fit in better in Izzo's program), and could never fathom why anyone had an issue with his approach. He was always trying to correct people about their opinions, haha, while telling them why he's super ethical, haha.
Honestly, on more than one occasion I wondered whether he could actually damage Michigan's chances with a given recruit because of the strange vibe he gave off.
I agree with all of that. He just gives off a reallly weird vibe, I could never get used to him.
Damn, I remember when Brandon started The M Block way back when I first got into following recruiting. I was so excited when he joined up here! Its amazing how far he's come in such a short time. Best of luck Brandon! We'll miss you!

I would second..... third for Magnus to be the new MGOBLOG writer.
Good luck to him. Like what he posted here, and I'm sure Brian will bring in another compelling writer.
I knew something up when he started getting cold around here. Ya know, shorter responses, didn't run to reply to everything anymore. I gave him a 1/5 on the blog committment scale.
/s (because, well, you guys know)
Congrats to him. Wolverine Devotee, come on down.
Again best of luck over there.
I don't think you are in a minority.
I think I know a guy who has some time on his hand and he knows about bubble screen questions. He would be perfect. He may still be collecting a paycheck from his last gig so he may work cheap.
I thought something was going on with Brandon. Wish him well on his future endeavors.
If you're talking about Al, well, he don't do 'cruitin!

He can write all day about what Harris is up to and may even get Michigan back in his top 5.
That's also Michigan running inside zone. That was a 7 yard gain against Indiana, which means they should be able to run inside zone for at least 3 yards against real defenses.
...and it's Derrick Green making a nice read and cut. The kid has pretty nifty feet, especially since he was 235 or so at the time. He should be even a bit quicker at his new weight of 220 lbs.
oops
Can't believe it hasn't been said yet:
I keed of course
I've been lurking this blog for at least three years and never felt the need to post anything until recently because I've learned more about college football in general than I could have imagined by reading opinions from you regular posters (and of course the Mgoblog writers) . My friends and family come to me for the latest on Big Ten football because I've become so knowledgeable about the game primarily because of this very blog.
So, where exactly does one go to get a new recruiting writer?
It's not like you can study it in school. Most of the guys that do it have connections built up over years. It's does not seem very easy to replicate that when you lose one.
Brandon didn't really have connections when he started. From what I remember and have heard, he hadn't been doing it for very long before Brian hired him.
So I'm assuming Brian intends to reinvest the transfer fee paid for BB to inject some youth and quality into the mgoblog roster. That's how this works, right?
