Keisean Lucier-South: Michigan his "favorite school"
Trending well with KLS. Per Mlive, per Rivals:
"I love the program," Lucier-South told Rivals.com's Adam Gorney this week. "It's my favorite school. The tradition there is insane. I've been watching them since I was a little kid. I can feel the vibe over there and that's why I chose them as my first official visit, too. I want to check it out. I really love Michigan right now."

Double post? Double the downvotes.
Although that may be true Auden Tate never even made it to campus so that could be a problem in assuming that we were ever the favorite over a school like Florida State
I beleive
The only thing we are missing on defense is consistent pressure off the edge. Hopefully Clark, Ojemudia and company can provide that this year.
How many times have we heard a kid say that they watched Michigan all growing up, that they love the tradition, its their favorite school, and then they go elsewhere?
I'm not bashing this kid at all. He's got the right to go wherever he wants. I'm just saying that Michigan can't seriously expect to play the tradition card and expect to lure in the top recruits solely because of that. Ohio State has a great tradition too, but the big difference between them and us is that they win right now, and have been winning nonstop for the last decade or so. We haven't.
Top recruits want to play for winners.

Not as often as they end up here?

To be fair, half the kids we get from Ohio have said that same thing about the Buckeyes.
Really, this class will not be top 10 because of the size of it. However, at this rate, we will be top 5 based on quality, which is far more important. I am not sure why people even rate classes by anything other than quality/stars per recruit. Sites should NOT favor your Miami/Mississipi schools just because they sign 61 kids a year.
Because a school has 85 scholarships which means you have to sign more than 21 a year on average.
Not if you count red shirts and every team red shirts people it'd be more like 85/5 years or 17 kids per class if and this never happens... everyone exhausted their eligibility and no one entered the draft early.
from the school's perpsective is how well they addressed their needs. It's too subjective to do national ratings that way, but that's what we'll be focused on the most when this class is signed.
Compare us to Penn State. On 247 they have 18 commits with an average of 90.08 and the #5 class. We have a higher average, 90.68, but only 9 commits so we are ranked 28. Penn State has 11 4 stars and we only have 7 so even though we have a higher average everyone would agree that Penn State's class is better.
While I agree that it's more important, I would not say it's far more important. Depth is critical for a program (see UM OL since Hoke has been at UM) and while more 4-star recruits pan out than 3-stars, the majority still do not pan out as hoped. Thus, most of these kids are lottery tickets and the more you have, the better.
I think what the sites should calculate is a rolling 4-year average to see how teams are doing with the full 85 schollies. That way schools that take 25-30 kids in a class for 2 years in a row a couple years ago aren't held back by the fact they can only take 15 or so in the next 2 classes. This way, they could also take into account kids that don't qualify or transfer early or leave for whatever reason early.
By the way, we signed 29 in 2010 which is more than Mississippit St or Ole Miss signed in any class over the last 5 years. Miami only signed 20 in 2011 and 2013.
How many did Miami sign in 2012?
2011 20
2012 33
2013 20
2014 27
Average 25 a year
Not really that egregious.
Michigan last 4 classes
2011-20
2012-25
2013-27
2014-16
Avg: 22
If we throw in 2015 Michigan will have 15 tops and Miami will have at least 25 again.
Making the averages:
Michigan: 21
Miami: 25
Basically an entire extra signing class over the course of 5 years. But nothing egregious at all.
So when we have a huge class for 2016 will you be complaining? Every school gets 85 total. You can sign 15 one year and 30 the next if you want. If you only sign 15 your class will be ranked lower.
I see it like this, signing fewer kids has its advantages. For one, it means you are loosing less kids year in and year out, be it because of graduation or because you kicked someone off the team, signing 15 kids means that you have 70 players returning thus making your team more experienced.
Michigan signed 27 players in 2009 of wich only 9 If I recall correctly finished their degree, so we had 18 scolarships to offer sooner than we thought and that's why this team has been one of the youngest teams in the conference the last few years.
And they cut/transfer out 8 players a year too.
I agree, but the only way to do it and don't be sleazy is if you can send 8 junior players to the draft every year... attrition is common but if anyone wants to sign 25 players every year they'll need to lose 8 every year so they don't go over the limit. Next year UM will have only 15 true freshmen and lots of experience on board.
But did they ever lose 24 of 27 from a class?
Not to mention all of the guys who grew up Michigan fans who committed to Michigan like Peppers.
Plus, when I committed to the school (as a fan, student, alumn) I never wavered. Until I see any recruit on the field, I have my doubts. We have fans that are only committed to the team when they are winning even though they say Michigan is their favorite school. Favorite school is two words without actions that support.
I think Mattison really wants him to build around, a devastating defensive end can really put the other team off balance trying to compensate if they don't have a top tackle or TE to handle (thinking Lewan vs. Clowney minus 1 particular play). Seems like his fellow recruiting friends (maybe some of them UM commits already) are telling him good things, with time marked from the BBQ going forward. Keep up the positive reinforcement, guys! Getting a guy to come from CA on his own dime could be a challenge, but the Official Visit will hopefully fill in the picture in vivid living color.
Having trouble with the embed, but Steve Lorenz had a tweet saying that Michigan is not his leader and that KLS "claims no leaders at this time."
Every recruiting thread always ends with 'just win.' Also, downvote for your use of y'all, even if I do live in Virginia.
