Glen Rice Jr. named Las Vegas Summer League MVP
After averaging a summer league high of 25.0 points on 46.9 percent shooting, Washington Wizards' guard Glen Rice Jr. is the summer league MVP for Las Vegas. In six games, he also averaged 7.8 points and 2.5 steals.
Cue the OT vs. Not OT rabble.
Good fot him. Those are good stats.
Tim Hardaway Jr. was named to the second team. OT problem solved?
Nope, now there's a new problem. THJ averaged like 24 points a game. That's only second team? I guess he didn't rebound, pass, or defend but come on!

I am going to go out on a limb and say that "Glen Rice" regardless of generation might be one of those names that gets a free pass around here, even if Glen Rice Jr. himself went to Georgia Tech.
I believe he spent most of his time in the D-League last year at Rio Grande and as I recall, he put up some decent numbers, so it is nice to see him get off to a good start this year. Hopefully, it leads to some more substantial time with the Wizards.
Very happy for the young man and hope he can translate it to the regular season when there will be some semblance of defense played.. Kind of reminds me of recruiting battles-we do very well in February but not so well from September thru November.
To be fair, it was Sarah Heath - an unmarried single woman in her 20's. She was not "Sarah Palin" at the time.
Is she the mother?
The Wizards just got Paul Pierce, so its going to be tough for this kid to get a lot of minutes for them real soon, especially with young Otto Porter still in Washington. His best shot would come with another team.
...once they dump Josh Smith.
The Hornets missed out on Gordon Hayward and could be looking for a SF to pair with the offensively challenged Michael Kidd-Gilchrist.
then he probably isn't going to last anywhere.
And hasn't played anywhere near close to that level.
But contracts matter in the salary capped land of the NBA, and the Wizards have $4.4 mil committed to Otto Porter this year, and will likely pick up his $4.6 million option for the following season (they have to decide in October right after training camp). Glen Rice Jr. costs about 1/5 of that this year, and will be a free agent next year. They have a lot more invested on Porter, and it makes sense to give him first crack at the minutes behind Pierce.
We stay clear of players with NBA bloodlines.
until after he'd already made up his mind. Given all of his off the court problems, it's not a decision I'll question.
The article meant to say 7.8 assists per game. But that had me baffled for a second as well!
