Hoke says Peppers will "get his feet wet" on returns
Brady Hoke said he expects Peppers to get his feet wet on returns to see how he does. He also hints he might get some time with Nuss. I don't think this is any huge revelation. He's a coach and he's going to put him in situations he can handle and be successful. I'm sure he sees the talent and it's hard to get excited.
He also said he's thinks Canteen and Mone to have an impact this year.

I used to agree that chicken doesn't go on pizza, that is, until I had a specialty slice out on Long Island, called "A La Vodka" slice, as in a pizza slice with vodka tomato sauce, and chicken chunks. It is out of this world fantastic... Believe me, for it'd make you a convert if you try it. They also do alot of specialty slices like "marsala" which is marsala sauce but with chicken again.
To do that I'd have to go to Long Island.
As a Michigan grad (who also lived and worked in Ann Arbor for a while before and after school), I expect Long Island to come to me. Not the other way around.
Recruiting is going well, it's a new year, the team is not there practicing, he's a little less stressed and more rested, etc.. A loss to a rival and non-stop questions about the offensive line can turn that around in a hurry. Not saying those things will happen, but you know what I mean.

I was actually pumped for Dymonte Thomas to make a huge impact in year one, and it never materialized. Really hoping that Peppers can be that guy to step in and raise everyone's game from day one!
To say that Mone as a true freshman, will have an impact at a position that needs man strength, suggests that Mone as a senior will be a devout monster. And for all you folks jerking off to sparty's "development" of players... well realize that a good majority of theirs were FIFTH year seniors... so take a guy like Mone and redshirt him and then play him as fifth year senior... now take an entire team like that...
It appears to me that we will truly take the lead again, when our depth is solid, and guys like Mone have to redshirt, and then play their fifth year. Its a shame that he has to play this year, actually. I thought our depth at DT was enough now that he'd sit.
really good players will have left before that fifth year so the redshirt year may be wasted. I will take that "problem" just as I will in basketball. It's hard to look at the talent on this roster and not be excited about where we will be in 2015 or 2016. I'm not writing off this year, but we will still be a young team.

Out of 21 people on defense, 15 have been in the program for at least 3 years, 5 have 2 years, and 1 is a Freshman. The entire D line has 6 guys with at least 3 years in and the other has 2 years in. The LB core boasts 5 out of 6 with at least 3 years in and no Freshman. The secondary is by far the youngest and will probably start a SR, a RS JR, a JR, and a Sophmore.

That is not that young of a team. The rest of the roster is young, but that is true of most other teams.
You could make a case for a lack of senior leadership as there are 6 SR or RS SR (8 if you include special teams) who will be playing key positions. The leadership is weighted towards defense as there is only one RS SR or SR on offense. But the sole RS SR on offense is the QB, and 4 of the SR's on Defense are split between DE and LB where experience matters. Throw in the RS JR's and this is not that young of a team. I agree it looks even better next year, but this is a team that should do some things this year based on the experience.
still young on the line which is obviously a concern still. I think they will surprise many partly due to the experience many of them got last year and not wanted to be embarrassed again and partly because of simplification of things from Nuss. That being said a lot is going to depend on health of the line and how quickly they come together as a unit.
Personally I think we will be a much better team at the end of the year than the beginning. I know that's true of all teams but being young, I think the experience of the early games will benefit us more. Luckily most of the early games are games we should still win.
1) The defense should be pretty danred good
2) The main problem on offense is still the line and 3rd year is still kinda young for o-lineman. There are 3 guys I'm worried about, Bosch, Braden, and Kalis (assuming Mags is healthy). If 2 of the 3 do a good job we're fine. If 2 of the 3 suck we are in trouble. Can we narrow down the success of a team to 3 guys???
I don't see how you can look at a list where there is one senior and 2/4 JR's came in as walk ons. No one is worried about youth on the defense because we're returning 8 starters and really about everyone from the two deep. This OL terrifies me, especially after what we saw last year and if the OL isn't right then nothing else on offense really matters. If by some miracle we can somehow decent line and give DG some time to throw and at least the threat of a run then double digit wins is more than possible. Peppers will be awesome, but it doesn't matter if the OL is awful.
I'm assuming he has an excellent vertical - would be nice to have another Tripp Welborne/Vada Murray- type player blocking kicks.

He should be our biggest threat on KO's since Stonum - probably a bigger one too. With his incredible straight line speed, all he'll need is an open gap. Norfleet has done an OK job, but he can be caught, plus he isn't very big. Peppers will be able to break tackles a lot more. Can't wait to see him in action.

I like the interviews also. I am going to check their occasionally in the future. i'm not sure if I happened to hit a time with a lot of UM content but I really liked these two interviews.
I really like BH's approach, if I'm reading between the lines correctly. Get him in as NB, which seems the perfect position for him as both a coverage guy and "thumper". See how he does as a punt/kick returner, because that, to me, is more a matter of pure instinct and speed and less challenging to learn. For everything else, let him get settled and see how quickly he acclimates. It would be very easy to give him too much too soon when he's still trying to figure out how to get to class and where the bathrooms are.
although I suspect he might take charge of all return duties quickly, as he concurrently learns defense. What a damn fine weapon he will be.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who has had day dreams about Peppers pulling a Denard and scoring on his very first touch (probably a punt return) against Appalachian State
