Why is it good that he didn't go to Ohio? I wish he went to Ohio so we could beat him every year. Or is everyone scared of Ohio these days?
if Michigan doesn't have a chance, instead of busing the team to Columbus, maybe Hoke should send a letter of concession.
My challenge to you is to point to where I said Michigan doesn't have a chance. I'll wait.
Ok, so what are our chances?
Well according to your post, you believe we have 100% chance of beating OSU every year. I contend that's highly improbable.... it's possible, but improbable. Hence, don't be that guy.
Wonderfully ironic. You tell me not to be that guy, only to be that guy yourself. Maybe one day I will be that guy, although -18406 MGoPoints will be a challenge to attain...
and quite soon you could be tied with his point total.
probable to go 10-0 the next 10 years if you believe it can be done than if not. By the same token it is quite likely you'll go 0-10 over the next 10 years if you believe winning is improbable.
Of cousre by you I mean the players...do you suppose the players live for the same negativety as you? Would you fault them for being negative? Or would you pat them on the back and remind them they never had a chance?
You cannot possibly win any games if you go into a game believing that the past controls the future. Your implication is clear, you believe the past does control the future and as the past showed futility, so too must the future.
I know it is in vogue around these parts to keep up with the Negative Nancys, personnally I find it quite refreshing when somebody suggests the future can be bright. Maybe over optimistically so, but better over optimistic than the perpetual negativety that has infected this blogosphere.
You and the other Nancys and Debby Downers, quite proud of yourselves keeping up the negativety, are you?
beat*
The "that guy" tag isn't about optimisim, it's about calling out other fans for somehow being scared or cowardly because their outlooks are based on the last 10-15 years of UM-OSU match-ups. "That guy" calls out other fans for being the wrong kind of fans.
Not only that, but also pulling the cliché OSU fan response of, "OK fine. If he wants to lose to us four times in a row, that is his problem."
I fucking hate it when OSU (and not MSU fans unfortunately) fans say that shit and it makes me even more pissed when a fellow Michigan says it. It's the stupidest thing to say and/or believe.
Don't be that guy...
now*, not "not."
I never "called out" anyone. I did ask if everyone else was scared, which is the perfect opportunity for others to provide a different point of view.
I'll be "that guy".
Regardless of who they recruit, or what their record's been against us over the last ten years, I still think we're gonna kick their ass
I am also scared.
I live in Ohio and cannot stand how we are required to have two license plates. It really does ruin the look of the front end. If I had something like a Porsche or some other sports car, I would definitely not have a front end license plate.
I cannot stand how slow people drive in Ohio.
They're notorious for driving under the speed limit in the fast lane.
for going 3 MPH over. No tickets though, once they barely gave me a warning. I can't count how many trips I've made to Ohio where the only cars to pass me on the way home had Michigan plates.
OK, I'm sorry, but I don't believe that. Three over? No cop or highway trooper will pull you over for going three over. My father is a retired cop and did that job for almost thirty years. Troopers will usually stop you for going seven or more over the limit (because mostly what they do is write speeding tickets, so they are stricter) and city cops usually allow ten to fifteen over the limit.
Right... So you believe this could/would never happen? I've been pulled over for not using a right turn signal at a stop sign. I didn't get a ticket, and I'm 99% sure the cop was using it as an excuse to make stops because of crime in the area (which I'm actually fine with, as long as I don't get a BS ticket).
"There had to be another reason that guy got yanked."
That is my point, but I'm sure the cop used that as his/her excuse.
"actually a more serious infraction"
I'm silly, that is interesting... So how much more serious of an infraction is it? A little? Or a lot?
From what I can find on the googles
Failure to signal = $80 fine + 2 points
0-5 mph over = $125 fine + 0 points (seems odd that's it no points but google never lies amirite?)
Assuming the 0 points thing is correct I would gladly take a $45 fine over 2 points based solely on the insurance hit.
So I would say failure to signal is marginally more serious?
I think his point though was "likelihood to get pulled over". I've never heard of someone getting pulled over for going 3 over but I've heard of plenty of people getting pulled over for failure to signal.
Thank you SWPro for actually adding something to the conversation. But I will restate my point, I believe the cop used the minor traffic violation (barely speeding or not signaling to turn right at a stop sign) as an excuse to pull someone over, since in my opinion, I don't see either as anything close to being pulled over for.
You ever wonder why no one there drives even 5 MPH over on the freeways? It's not because the cops set a minimum of 7 MPH over to stop you. It's an eerie feeling to drive 100+ miles barely over the speed limit and not have a single vehicle pass. Then cross the border and it's suddenly back to normal.
I've been driving 10 over the speed limit for my entire life in Ohio and I've never been pulled over once.
You just HAD to remind me of my fellow Ohioans. I, too, don't understand why people in this state drive like jackasses. So many people not only drive slowly, but also accelerate slowly. It takes many people about thirty seconds to get to 60+ on the highway ramps and that is just unacceptable. There is a gas pedal - push it harder, people.
A talented player going to a team on the schedule is never a good thing.
I get being interested in ND, but I can't imagine wanting to play for Kelly. Or letting my kid play for Kelly. I guess it takes all kinds. Good luck to Shaun.
Winning a championship isn't everything, just ask Rashad McCants.
Notre Dame once hired a coach who won four national championships at his level.
His name was Gerry Faust.
That turned out well.
