Good to hear Darkey and Macca again.
Scar!
Goal!, let's hope the game keeps its intensity.
Wow. Neymar comes up big.
Couldn't have placed that any more perfect.
Very nice goal by Neymar 1-1 29'
Hulk is a big mf-er - aptly named
I just realized that the Brazilian GK plays in the MLS for Toronto - that surprises me.
I don't like how many of these games are scheduled during normal work hours, but I work an eccentric work day dictated by hours of my demand, so I can go in from 6 AM to 2 PM tomorrow and make it in time for Spain - Netherlands, I hope :|
Also noted B1G broadcaster Mike Tirico is doing halftime right now
Is better then it usually is but let's pretend FIFA doesn't care about Europeans watching. Most days final game starts at 6 ET, makes it midnight in central Europe. Diehards will stay up and watch and still creates a prime-time type game for the Eastern US.
I remember watching those games in high school during class at 7 AM. We'd just be in class making pots in ceramics with the game on
I had a bunch of people over to watch the Portugal-USA game at whatever time that was (7:00am-ish?). We all had to go to work afterwards, and so we sat there downloading coffee and cigarettes while the US fended off the Portugal comeback - good times.
Wow those Brazilians sure love those halftime concessions. What the hell, where did everyone go?
I need another goal here (either team) - o/u is 2.5 (even on the over).
is the most boring performance by Brazil I've ever witnessed.
Agreed - both teams are bunkered down and very conservative. Some speed coming on with Bernard replacing Hulk though.
Horrible call on this PK, but I will take it.
Maybe it'll open up a bit or is Croatia done?
How can they call that
Stupid ref
Stupid FIFA
Terrible, corrupt officiating. This is exactly why Americans can't get behind soccer as a sport.
Like what? What American sports have even close to the same level of corruption as FIFA? Sure, part of it is because America isn't that great, but even if they were, the constant diving is such an insult to competitive play that it's almost unbearable to watch.
Yeah I do agree that the NBA has been rather pathetic lately, but we're still a long ways away from the levels of diving seen in international soccer
FIFA right now. LeBron James, despite the fact he's 6'9" 270 lbs and can outmuscle anybody with ease, is a habitual flopper.
Easy NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL to name a few. NBA and NHL have major problems with game fixing in their reffing crew. I don't buy for a second the NFL's drug testing policy or their push to protect player safety. Same goes for MLB's fight against PED. At least advanced sabermetrics has leveled the playing field in MLB.
The guy who gets fouled (or not in this case) should be the one who has to take the penalty shot...
For a fringe soccer fan like me that call makes me not want to watch much more of this World Cup. Especially when the announcers say things like that is the first of many controversies.
Maybe you are just looking for a reason not to watch? The NBA has flops, so does the NFL at times. It happens, that's why players get fined. Don't let ONE play in the first game ruin the WC. Brazil has been dominate, they are more skilled. Things even out.
Huh? Have you been watching the game? Brazil has been anything but dominant. Sure, they've held possesion for most of the game, but as far as legitimate attacking opportunities it's been pretty much even. Brazil is extremely lucky to be up 2-1.
68% vs 32% in possesion? 80% passing vs 60%? 145 complete passes vs 60?? I'd say that's being better, and those are the 1st half statics.
Yeah they've been a bit better, but a lot of that is simply style of play.
While Brazil was sloppy at times, their talent was obviously dominate. They toyed with them today.
I could not disagree more. That was the farthest thing from "toying" with them. Scoring opportunities were essentially even, and the result was largely dictacted by a terrible piece of officiating. Overall, Brazil was sloppy, lazy on defense, and very lucky to come away with the win.
Not sure game you were watching. Scoring opportunities were not even remotely close. 9-4 SOG, 58-42 possession and fouls 21-5. Exactly what part of that was close?
*dominant
normally I wouldn't say anything but you have misused dominate twice now.
...it's unfortunate there isn't more Serie A on American television. For some reason a lot of American soccer fans seem to think that having more possssion should mean you're winning the game.
For me the only stretch of the game where Croatia was clearly worse was that last 20 minutes or so when they had the ball and were open to an inevitable counter.
They were clearly worse than Brazil for the entire first half. For some reason some people think that just because the score was tied, one team is dominating a game.
You know nothing about soccer.
Don't watch the NBA and my NFL watching has waned in recent years.
